Attending bonfire?

Post by Eltnot »

Pending funds and what else is on around that time, I'm thinking about heading down for the bonfire. Would be good to make the trip with another FTO or two. Short range UHF radios are pretty cheap and make the drive a lot more enjoyable when doing a convoy.

Post if you're interested in coming along.

90% chance yes I am.... only need to sort out I don't have any releases over the long weekend else I will be called in to work over the holidays :|

I was thinking of breaking the journey into two halves instead of driving straight to Canberra. Its a long boring drive down the Princess/Hume. Something like stopping over at Port Maquarie would be a good option I think.

Probably organise to crash at people's places in Sydney. Then cruise down with the Sydney guys for the last leg of the trip.

Looks like this is starting to firm up with a few members going. Add you name to the list below so that we can work out stuff like where to meetup before leaving, and how many beds/couches/floors will be required when we reach Sydney. Include your partners as well.

It is over the Easter break. If you work Monday to Friday normally then you don't need any time off.

That's a lot of driving in one go. You have to work the public holiday on Friday?

I was planning to leave on Friday morning since it is a public holiday and stay Friday night in Sydney. Drive with the Sydney guys to the bonfire and back with them on the Sunday, and then drive back to Brisbane on the Monday.

Given that it's about 11 hours to get there, I won't be hanging back until Friday night. You won't get there until Saturday morning as is.

Is Taz riding shotgun with you? It's a long drive by yourself at night, and I'm going to take a stab in the dark and guess you haven't done a lot of long distance (6+ hours) driving?
