Let's do something in 2012

Post by ObsidianRadio »

Okay so I'm new to the forum...

...But that doesn't mean I'm not new to the car scene!

I've crossed from the Commodore Owners Car Club of SA (COCCSA), ditched my V8, and here I am in an FTO!

I noticed the last posts in the SA forum were like ancient or something...Would be good to know if anyone's online and would like to organize an event in the coming month or so!

Shall we make this the 2012 thread?

Let the fun begin...

I was once a forum master and admin for the Commodore Owners Car Club of SA (COCCSA) and here I am in an FTO...
"But that doesn't mean I'm not new to the car scene"

Hmm, the double negative above implies you are new to the car scene...

Okay so I phrased that wrong...Hahaha. Shouldn't try posting when I'm tired from an all-nighter at work :/

I cruised monthly for two years and participated in many show 'n' shines, charity cruises, dyno days ad track days in my 5.0L VL Calais...

My computer was telling me the previous post in South Australia was in 2011 sometime...If that wasn't the case, apologies for my dodgy computer!

But seriously...How often are events held in SA? There's surely something going on in 2012!

I've been really busy lately with my new job so haven't been around much
for the past few months but am keen to go for a cruise now I'm full time.
Quick question how does the FTO feel to drive in comparison to driving your V8 commy?

Oh awesome! :D Let me know when you're free to arrange a meet up!

It feels great, actually...It's so much lighter, took my mates VL for a drive the other day and realized just how heavy they are...The FTO hugs corners so nicely, minimal body roll...People actually look at this car and admire it as well, it feels like I've stepped into the future! Hahaha :P The only thing I miss is the power...The Calais was a rocket! I much prefer the fancy looks though :)

Saw another FTO going along Tapleys Hill Rd the other night, was a dark blue GPX with the plate "VOODO 0" ...Looked really neat! Anyone in SA seen that one around?

This summer's ridiculous...We all know how hot these FTOs get once they've been in the sun for a good few hours...

    I look forward to it!

Add another South Aussie to that list. My 98 GPVR arrived from Japan a few weeks ago and now i'm in the middle of trucking it down from Sydney to Adelaide. Would be keen to catch up with some other people once I get mine and actually manage enough time off of work ;)

Woooo! SA is finally being active! :D We should arrange an FTO day in a month or so...What sort of work are you in Kiz? See if we can arrange something in advance so you can get some time off :D

    Welcome to the club!

    Woooo more SA members!

I'd like to perhaps organize a cruise and meet sometime soon...Would be great to see some more FTOs! Will have to find a venue where we can get in without scraping, and somewhere central as well so there's not far to travel...My previous car club often used the Bunnings Mile End carpark just outside of the city? I personally prefer somewhere fancier...Windy Point upper carpark by the restaurant's always a treat to meet up in!

I'm just up Henley Beach. I'm good most mornings, although I'm just a spectator, so don't give me much sway in deciding what day.

Depending when it ends up being, you may see a little gold '02 323.

I manage a 24 hour roadhouse (big job for one person). If I know in advance i'm sure I could sort something out with work. I'm a bit of the way out of Adelaide so it means a drive for me, but If people are up for it Murray Bridge is also a good spot for meets. Plus there is the Tailem Bend Motorsport Park just down the road.

I'm sure we will work something out in the future, I will definitely let people know if I'm heading down with the FTO.

Yeah for sure man! Let us know if you're on the way down :) You're like me...Workaholic! Work at a radio station during the day, manage a club on thursday nights, and DJ at another club Saturday nights...I need to stop working so much :/
