CFS Emergency SMS

Post by PHIL069 »

Earlier today Sue and I both got an emergency SMS from the states Country Fire Service warning us of a local bushfire and be prepared to evacuate if required.
So I took a look outside and to my surprise the Southern Flinders Rangers were on fire right inline with the end of our street.
The wind was blowing it south and we are west of the fire, so the danger wasn't present unless the wind changed.
Anyway I took some pics from our street this arvo and again tonight.

Pics...The last 3 are taken with the camera in the same spot but with different shutter speeds + a big arse lens to zoom in so close.

I know how your feeling about now. Have been in a situation like that a few times myself. I hope they stop it before it gets to you. Bloody great job on the photos though. I like this one in particular:

Looks like smaug's gold pile in the hobbit.

Can you get a few with your FTO in the foreground and that in the background?

Stay safe and I hope it all works out for you.

^That's my favourite one too :P

The opportunity to get the FTO in one of those pics is passed.
Anyway it wouldn't have been possable as I had to zoom right in with my 300mm lens to get those babies.

I can't even see the ranges this morning as they are cloaked in a cloud of smoke.

Damn!! That Pic Dwayne quoted and ABC put on Instagram...it's like beauty and danger...all captured together....shows how beautiful destruction can be sometimes...yet deadly. Damn morbid that picture. :\

Hope you guys are safe Phil.
