Hunter Valley BBQ and DIY day. (Pre bonfire) Feb 28 - Mar 1
EDIT: UPDATED WITH DATES.
Hey peeps.
As is tradition before the bonfire.
I plan on hosting a DIY day at Le Casa de Astron.
Saturday/ Sunday deal, plenty of room to spend the night if you wish.
Basically on my part I'm after some peeps assisting with more or less a minor rebuild. I.E. all oil seals, timing belt, pulleys, gaskets and fit the new 5spd tip.
On my part I'm happy to shout some feed in the form of sausages, steaks, bread, etc, and **even some beer as well for those willing to help with my car namely**.
People are welcome to bring their own car so some work can be performed on theirs (I can enquire with my direct oposing neighbor if we can use his land as his is more open and vacant (can remove a section of fence...)
If you have an interest to join, post up, I don't have an exact date, I am still trying to organise all my wares to be fitted, and then organise a Saturday I can take off.
Obviously it won't be in January as we have the upcoming Straya Day. But perhaps early/ mid Feb...

Cool, cool.
Matter of opinion, what's easier, doing the rebuild in the engine bay or out? (Do we have time to pull the engine out?)
I can strip down the front end to speed up the process...

Shouldn't really be that difficult doing it in the car.

Easy enough to do in the engine bay... not worth pulling it out unless you're doing something a bit more major.
Do everything in order and you'll be fine

Really? You're gonna drain all the fluids and disconnect all the fittings why?
You have to take all the ancillary off anyway... If you do it in the right order you don't need to take the motor out... I've got mine all apart now and it took less than an hour to strip back...

I'd be doing oil and coolant change regardless.
plus fitting the gearbox would be easier out of the engine bay.
Add to that I need to fix a bit of corrosion caused by the previous battery leaking a bit.
unbolt the a/c comp from the motor, let it hang and rip the whole thing out otherwise.
But whether it's time efficient is another matter...

As if you would go to all the trouble of a top end service and not change fluids????SchumieFan wrote:Really? You're gonna drain all the fluids and disconnect all the fittings why?
OK, but I'm not setting the timing then if it's in car, someone else can do that
I fix cars.

Oh I thought you already had the gearbox on! f**k dude...
Yeah take the motor out if you're going to do that...
Daniel stop being so pedantic, you know what I mean! It's not just oil and coolant holding the engine in!
