BJK's FTO #2: The GPX-R

Post by bjk »

So there were some giveaways on the forum for observant onlookers, but here's the official thread anyway of my most recent acquisition! Behold, ZFL45H!

Image

Basically, Zach (ZFL45H1) has done almost everything to this car that I would have done to mine in future; thus despite divesting me of almost the last of my savings, I considered it a worthwhile investment for my long-term FTO ownership. I seem to have made a habit of travelling halfway across the country to acquire cars I have never seen. Fortuitously, a retreat I attended just north of Canberra which my housemate was also attending meant he generously offered to drive me the further distance in his car to Newcastle after it concluded. Another mutual friend tagged along for the adventure (and also unwittingly but incredibly booked the motel room some only 2 kilometres from Zach's place 8O ), so on the 6th of January the car was acquired, and on the 8th we were back in Adelaide.

But enough narrative, onto the important details! Car is basically a twin of mine, a 1995 built GPX, save some important details.

Suspension
324x30mm 33GTR rotors with WRX STi 4-pot calipers
BC BR coilovers
18x8 Advan wheels
Poly bushes
Megan camber + toe arms
Front vR strut brace
Larger front and rear sway bar

Engine/Drivetrain
Rebuilt Engine
Hurricane extractors + cat-back exhaust
Custom intake pipe
Manual with Cusco LSD

Other
Battery relocated to boot
Replica Recaro bucket seats
Interior pieces: MOMO steering wheel, carbon gear knob, new stereo surround plastics
Clear side indicators
HIDs
Dstocks facelift Factory Ts front bar unpainted
Dcuatro skirts unpainted

As is typical for me, have some pics. I tried to restrain the spam (for the moment)

Will post in my other thread concerning the fate of my first FTO. And can I just say, cheers for Zach for being such a helpful bloke (and answering my not insignificant amount of questions), and for buying a BMW so I could acquire this sweet ride.

Oh i feel so sad knowing i cant just walk outside and see her sitting outside my door lol. But I'm so happy that she has stayed in the club and new ownership to someone i believe will truly look after this beast and somehow make is own despite there is basically nothing left to mod lol. Really looking forward to this thread and good luck bud [SMILING FACE WITH SMILING EYES][THUMBS UP SIGN]

Don't worry, with BJK as the new owner you will have a minimum of 10 new photos per day.

Yeah I'm gonna feel that way with the silver one when I part with it eventually! There's still a couple things left to mod though. ;) Tim had a look under and reckons you might have the GPvR rear sway, so I'll probably end up putting the Whiteline one on. And then there's the rear strut brace.

    Well done BJK :D
Are you going to get personalised plates for it?
Which FTO are you going to bring to the bonfire?

I have considered it, but need to do a few things before it passes ID inspection and getting it registered.

At this stage it'll probably be the white one, as hopefully I'll have sold the silver one before I have to new the rego again in March.

Well wear BJK! Some nice mods on the car. What's the handling and ride like on 18" alloys and coilovers? Keep the pictures rolling!

Will always be more pictures. ;) might get my brother to come out sometime with his DSLR and I could try and get some shots with the both of them.

Ride is definitely firm! But not unbearable. Will be interested to see if there's any major difference with the 17s. A couple clicks softer might do well, but I'll see how I go.

Likely! I should probably put in for leave asap, but us SA crew need to figure out the trip first I imagine, given we were planning on taking the coast.

At Pedders at the moment where Vipfto manages. They've determined the calipers are on the opposite sides to what they should be, thus the bleed nipple is also upside down, lets air in during fluid change.
