im just finding it odd how i can buy it individually by myself outside of any club or group buy for $70 cheaper than what a group buy would get. Just assumed that it would either be the same price if not $10-20 cheaper. :?

Well i guess the current stock manufacture cost may have been cheaper than it is now, they may have priced these to the bone to clear slow moving stock, all valid business reasons. Still cheaper regardless. Also i don't know whether Hurricane do face their headers after manufacture or not, but this is a valid problem with extractors. Welding can warp the face plate slightly. Would be worth asking Hurricane if they do or not.

And no I don't work for RPW, just been confused following this thread knowing you could buy the RPW's currently for $550

Hmmm odd, i remember reading about sending the stock parts back to you, let me check. There was something about a $200 deposit till we send them back at our own expense.

Didn't know about the wrapping issue... Will find out what process the folks at Hurricane follow.

Edit-
Ah my bad! I realize what happened there...it's for the throttle body/manifold upgrade kit... had that stuck in my head for some odd reason. :|
Apologies... I stand corrected, RPW does not need you to send your stock parts back for the extractor.

OK read above post from RPW

As said RPW get these made by Hurricane for them and buy in bulk

RPW currently have 7 units in stock which they want to move so price is cheap to get rid of them. You have to look at it from their point of view if they go ahead and buy more units from Hurricane they will most likely have to pay same money for them that you are getting for group buy so why buy a product in just to lose money on it? The only reason for selling off other 7 units cheap is because they are dead stock which you are better to sell at a loss than have sitting on the shelf for years.

IMO for those that want to do a GB from hurricane its not a bad deal but if it were me I would be want to be one of the 7 getting a better deal on the stock left at RPW

Well it's in the hands of the members at this point.
If every one wants to go hurricane then I can set it up, if not they can go RPW.

I just wanted to say, it was not my intention to destroy this attempt at a group buy for the club and I am sorry if this has inconvenienced anyone at the club or the moderators etc who were trying to organise this.

But what I will do is this, once the existing 7 sets (now 5 left) are sold, I will set-up a discount code on our website for 1 month after that.

Any members from here who want to order a set of the units, we will sell them for $620.00 a set plus freight which will still be cheaper than what you could get them from Liverpool as a group buy. This way those that were waiting can still get a great price.

That way the members can still benefit from a cheaper price as a group buy. But we will need to get the orders finalised by the middle of November if we want to get these manafactured and shipped out before Xmas, otherwise we won't be able to do anything till the end of January.

I think the people who forgot the fundamentals of running a business were the ones who lead this group buy to where it is now. They don't understand that businesses don't run to provide products at cost price or even at the expense of the business. It doesn't matter if it is a slow or unmovable product, in the end it still costs money to produce and distribute.

I appreciate you putting the price up and closing any discussion of any further pricing discounts.

Those that want them now that have the cash on hand (like myself) get in while it's cheap. Those that want to wait run the risk of paying the higher amount. End of discussion ;)

Sure there is a 'running of business' ideology out there, and with the same idea there is the notion of mass sales of a slow moving product with minimal profit margin is better than selling couple of units of the same with a higher profit margin.
If you believe any company, even after giving you a discount/sale/group buy price still does not keep a profit margin (or has a business objective in their favour), you really need to rethink your knowledge about 'running a business'.

Group buys are never meant to undercut a company's profit or make them sell below their production/minimal cost. It's just to bring the profit margin down for the product so we can enjoy a discount and the business enjoys a good amount of sales. I don't think anyone here thought we were trying to undercut the minimal price from either RPW or Hurricane.

It's good we have both the prices on the table, it is also good that people can decide and weigh the odds and evens on this purchase. The idea from the very start was...it being an EOI not a definitive group buy to run in 2 weeks. All good that you have the money and the urgency to buy it right now, but that does not dictate any scenarios for the rest of the guys in the list. As I said before, people are free to drop off for any reason during this EOI at any point of time till we have a concrete plan. :)

I am sure people can make their decisions about this group buy and go from there. But I definitely don't see this group buy in any negative state. We have prices from two companies and some technical information. Those are good points which will help anyone here to make an informative decision.

I am still in, and for all that's worth, it will be easier for me to drive down to Aza's place and pick them up in person; specially since I will be heading that way for the Bonfire.

And hey, don't forget to put up pictures after installing :)

@Mitsiman, no worries, you put some information on the table about the product, and cleared that misinformation I had as well. All good there :)

I love how a group buy has just turned into a brilliant philosophical conversation on business operations and ethics ;)

But for now, I'll be out of this group buy... I have some other priorities on my mind and I'll save extractors for later

I'm still in this group buy for now, as this may take a while to get things set in stone and at the meantime I'm still sourcing parts etc for my suspension upgrade, will definitely have funds in time for this group buy; extractors aren't the top of my priorities at the moment.
