Re: Yep
for $20 if the cops don't like it just peel it off and bin itdstocks wrote:Thumbs up from me - but just curious, is that likely to be legal???
still gets enough light around the outside to signal clearly
and yeah i got the idea off the db9
the shape of the light is really similar so i though i'd see how it looks
i haven't kept it on coz every imperfection on the surface of the light
shows through up close... i'm gonna try sanding it back and polishing
it to get the surface spot on before i have a second attempt

how gives a toss if its legal or not. if you get defected just take it off?
in all reality and esp in Vic its unlikely u will be defect for this only real mods get you a yellow sticker.
then again...just peal it off. looks better than the *~dreamy~* 2000 dollar clear lights whihc end up getting water and looking gheyer.

There's more to illegal mods than just defects... They give insurance companies rights to deny claims.
You'd give a toss if you were unlucky enuf for this to happen to you.
I like to know what's legal and what's not. I assume there are others that are the same.

it took me a while to get the shape correct so if you want a copySamson wrote:I just got defected for my tail lights. Looking to change them into something different. I love DB9s... Im very much thinking of doing this mod.
of the file just pm me your e-mail addy and i'll send it to you.
i've got the file in 3 formats (pdf/eps/ai) so if you burn it to disk
and take it to any car sticker guy they should be able to do it easily.
can someone with a bit of electrical knowledge explain this to me...
is it possible to run multiple LED's directly from a standard light globe connection?
i was thinking about doing the following -
bake the tail light and attach led's on the inside of the existing
coloured plastic. (all white globes coz the plastic will give the colouring)
run lower strength led's from the parker globe connection and
brighter led's from the brake and indicator connections.
if the indicator led's are running straight from the globe connection
would that eliminate the need for installing flasher components?
(was gonna keep the reverse globes standard)
possible or pipe dream?

Email them to weirdkid_1@hotmail.com if you could... thanks a heap.
Its always do-able. LEDs should use less currant too. Just need to wire them up in the right voltage. Easiest way would be to use 12v LEDs and wire them in parralell. just be carefull there... I have been looking at doing the same thing but lack the practical knowledge to fabricate a housing for them... god i wish i knew how to fibreglass.

well if i use the existing tail light i don't need to manufacture
a housing... just attach the base of the led to the area that is
covered by the sticker... this would ensure the led is really
close to the surface too.
only problem would be replacing led's when they go...
...but from what i hear led's have a pretty long lifespan?
