The paint on my wiper blades was peeling and looking pretty crap, so I sprayed them black last weekend, also gave my front grill and windscreen seals a few coats as well to make them look all shiny-like again...
was a bit of a rush job to try and get it done before the cruise the next day so i sprayed it on a bit thick, but ...i'm fairly happy with the results..

If anyone is interested in respraying their car bits you will need:

Can of Spraypaint (whatever colour you like) - I used gloss black

Plastic primer - (If spraying plastic parts - Helps the paint stick to the plastic)

Prepsol (Grease remover) - Need to clean the plastic parts and get all the dust / grease etc off it before you paint/prime... as the paint is pretty fussy about it.

Dropsheets / Newspaper to cover areas you don't want to get covered in paint - You can pick up a plastic dropsheet from Big W in the paint section for like $2 - $3

Tools to get the wiper blades off - 12mm socket + S'Wrench

Getting the windscreen grill off is easy, just pop out the little plugs holding it in and lift it off - they may be brittle and break off if you're not careful

When spraying, do lots of light coats rather than thick coats and all of that basic spraypainting stuff that i completely ignored

I did this too, but if you want to make it even easier, dont even take wiper blades off.... I didnt need a primer either, just washed them and then painted and have had no problems two years later.

I left grill and blades where they are, paper all over the bonnet, windscreen etc, and just sprayed.


good little thing to do, amazing how much better the car looks.

Did the same thing to rear wiper as well.

Rather than spray-painting the plastic bits, I prefer a liberal dose of Armouralworks a treat. rejuvenates the plastic from that tired grey look back to a fresh black finish .... send all advertising royalties to peter C @ ... lol

If this is to warrant full DIY accreditation, i need to see pics!

lol but then you have to keep doing it every few weeks.... painting at least you do it once and then dont have to touch again for years..

why not new unit all together?? Not expensive and offer a better wipe?

was a bit too rushed, but if you take your time with them & let each coat dry properly before doing the next one, they will look better..

didnt want to start a new thread, but i did this today and it turned out great. (the wipers and the plastic scuttle) but the rubber seal between the plastic and windscreen is goooooone, any tips on re-sealing this?
