hey guys got some more information for you (those that went on the cruise will already know this stuff)

COST: 195.00 (less if we can get more than 8 cars)
Requirements:
* Good condition tyres
* HELMET ADR approved motorcycle helmet
* Jeans / Long sleve shirt

Other points to note

there is a good chance you will use up a lot of your tyres and brakes on this event so make sure you are prepared for that expense.

We are going to talk to race brakes and see if they are prepared to give us a few sets of pads on consignment for the event incase anyone has nothing left by the end of it and has to replace them - the cost will be the same as their normal price.

May is better for me too.

I have to get a few hill climbs out of the way as well as prep my car for compliance with the CAMS safety requirements

Ok boys and girls... Wakefield... ah the call to Wakefield... the drive up there in itself an experience!

I have actually been fortunate enough to expereince Wakefield once already in my FTO and once in a friends Type-R (passenger though). It's a great little track and it tests your cornering and braking abilities more so that your top end, I think the fastest I got to at the end of the straight was about 140-145kmh before I had to brake.

I can't wait for this day because I feel my car is a little better for the track now and even though the WRX STIs and PORSCHE GT3s beat me on the day, I think for an FTO, I'd be in with a chance :) You boys with your sick mods will have to finally see who has the best car and driving ability. Will it be the AUTOMATIC or the MANUAL that conquers? or will it be the SUPER GR of GAVs? or a GPX? :D
We should make sure we get proper timing instruments though. When I went I had an electronic unit paced in my car which beeped everytime I passed the start finish line. The ppl in the race tower had the times that I recored for each lap, so it was very cool to see that on their computers.

A couple of things though:
* You need to get a licence at Wakefield if you don't have one... I think it's like 70 bucks for a 1 yr licence (don't quote me)
* You can hire a helmet at Wakefield... I did when I went and it cost me $15 - $20 (again don't quote me on this) hehe
* I raced a day there and my tyre's were quite alright, didn't seem to lose much rubber.
* This time when I go, I am definately upgrading my brake pads... this is a MUST! It will help you increase your lap times.
*HINT: Keep your windows closed! if you spin off the track (like I managed to do on the final turn onto the straight coz I entered the turn too hot) the gravel and dirt and sh*t goes straight into your car.... very annoying and hard to clean up!

Either way, i'm in! I can't wait!

questions...
a)how long we got to get this in?
and
b)how many laps/track time would we expect to get on such a day? roughly

oh quick query...
if it rains on the day, is it postponed/cancelled or still runs?

oh and also you mentioned in an earlier post it may get cheaper than 195 if we get more than 8 cars....is this still the case?

Anyway

silent bob:

read the documents re session times, terms and conditions and the like. My part in this is simply to organise FTO's, i am not running the event nor do i have any say in how the event will be run.

track time: it'll most likely be 10 mins on 20mins off.... you wouldn't want to run on the track for much more than 10mins anyways.

don't know what happens if it rains, i would imagine that if it rains:

a. before it starts... refund
b. after it starts .. no refund

the reason behind this is that it costs a fortune to higher the track, ambo for hte day and tow trucks. so once its started its started.

yes if we get more than 8 cars participating in the day it will be cheaper, however budget based on not getting 8 cars to be on the safe side.
