Head work

Post by Blk-Jet »

My fto heads have been pulled off and step by step will be getting ported.

So far nobody has gotten back to me with any idea of how much can actually be taken out or for that matter ported gaskets!

This is a big job so pictures and prices will not be available untill end of january.

Choices will include:
- Copper head gaskets
- (if possible) Increasing Compression from milling of heads,
- 3 angle cut valves
- upgraded valve springs
- lightened heads

These mods are mainly for those of us wanting to keep our engines NA. For any turbo modifications please keep an eye out or message me for any updates as i'm planning on turboing the 6A12.

As for cams, it's something i'll leave to others i.e. RPW as these modifications are relatively cheap with positive gains.

Please note. Greddy E-manage piggyback system will be used and results posted when completed.

*smiles* I'm thinking of raising my CR up to 10.5 at some point.

Maybe 11 but I think I'm pushing it if I go that high =)
Damned newer mistu GDI engines have CR of 11 =)

I dont think milling the heads will be posible as the pistons are allready dished and notched as it is. This would probably cause a valve clearance problem especially if a high lift cam is fitted. Pistons and valves dont like each other very much at 8300rpm.

new ideas keep popping up and with these come connections,

The microtech lt-8 (i think) is a great unit for these mods and will take care of fuel maps (500rpm steps) and ignition.

Prices for the unit will b around the 1g mark but this unit has built in laptop adaption etc etc.

When more info comes i'll post it up

As for the milling of the heads, you are right, there most probably will be a clearance problem although we will aim for 10.5:1 and see if it can be done. On this note only 98RON fuel + octane booster will most likely be necessary. But we'll wait and see.
