Hey,

I was thinking.... With the amount of threads created when people are looking to find out where to take their FTO's to be fixed, it would be good to have a Sticky thread for all the "Reputable" FTO Mechanics or Tuners / Body Modifications / Spray Shops / Parts Suppliers for QLD.

I will be happy to put it all together & post it up, but I don't particularly have much experience with "good" mechanics myself ... so I would need everyone's input on places they would recommend

I can't stress enough that the mechanics have to be "
Reputable - doesn't have to be a classy establishment, but they do need to be a decent, honest workshop who either knows FTO's, not just 'say' they do... or is a very good mechanic that you would trust to work on your car, or recommend to someone else.

If you recommend any workshops anywhere in QLD (Even Northern NSW) can you PM me with the details

Workshop Name:

That's a huge thing for me when I'm selecting a mechanic, along with the tidiness of their workshop.

The mechanic I used to go to would never listen to anything I asked, never provided written quotes and always overcharged. I only used him for convenience sake.

These guys have been great!

Workshop Name: Robo's Motor Worx
Location: 19 North St, Rockhampton QLD 4700, Australia
Ph Number: (07) 4921 0200
Workshop Type: Mechanic (his Dad also runs a good Tyre shop just up the road)
FTO Specialist?: N (they've done stuff on mine but there arne't a lot of FTO's floating around that far north.
Work you've had done: Regular services, Drop links, Master/slave cylinders.
How happy were you with the work?: Yes, very. They have a good eye for details.
How you found out about them: Word of mouth
$$$: (how much will it stretch the wallet?) They were very reasonably priced. They have a good attention to detail so will probably pick up faults that other mechanics would gloss over. This may lead to paying more, but it will be for proper jobs, not trying to rip you off.

They forgot to check my rear brakes for wear once, and they wore out whilst I was away on holidays. I had the pads changed locally and mentioned it to them when I next dropped it in for some work. They were very good about the whole thing and waived the labour charges for changing the oil in my gearbox. I've since left town but they still service my parent's car and continue to do a good job.

Bosman Tyres
Location: Archerfield
http://www.bosmanwholesaletyres.com.au/ Daniel or Josh
Workshop Type: Anything related to wheels and tyres
FTO Specialist: A tyre and wheel shop
Work you've had done: All wheels aligned, balanced and punctures removed
How happy were you with the work: 100%
How you found out: Word of mouth
$$$- Quite reasonable. $50 for four wheel alignments, $10 balancing per wheel, $20-$25 puncture repairs

Friendly and helpful staff. Offers a proper four wheel alignment rather than the dodgy Thrust alignment you get from the major tyre shops for double the price. Wheels aligned by Bob Jane were way out. Daniel owns an evo 8 and a car enthusiast. :)
