Brisbane alternative of Joe and ricks

Post by BorepYano »

hey guys, i just want a rough show of hand on who would be interested if there was an alternative to joe and ricks that was in brisbane rather than down the coast.

sry bare with me for a bit, i am drunk lol

i know of a very very good mechanic that's been known to do very good work, they r in sherwood... not far from indorpilly.
they r not cheap, but if there is enough interest i will spend the extra few dollars to get them to do my mechanical work for me (use my fto as their test dummy)...
so this way we'll have someone that can work on ftos properly in brisbane rather than having to go all the way down to the coast for joe and ricks.

would anyone use these guys if i "train" them?

There's potential for a thread about anything on FTO Australia

Yang, the reason behind Joe n Ricks being so great at FTOs is:

- Customer Service. These guys are fair dinkum and donk f**k ya round. Always honest with you too and arent too expensive considering their quality of work.

- Quality - With EVERYTHING they have fixed on my car, i have NEVER had to take it back or had a fault with anything. (First mechanic i've ever been to that ive NEVER had a problem with)

- Specialists - They have a Jap mechanic in house and he specialises in FTOs. They have years of experience dealing with FTOs. Rick easily quotes prices off the top of his head.

Example: I came to rick. I said, Theres some hot water dripping down in the passenger footwell...
He said, Thats your internal heater matrix, because of the original poor construction, it is prone to leaking. You need a new core. You can, get a 2nd hand one for $xxx installed or a brand new one for $xxx.... We would need the car for 5 hours.

Most mechanics would say "Yeh we'll have a look and let you know."
Then take a day to look at it. Then take a day to fart round with quotes. then after underquoting due to not taking into account their inability to work on an FTO, you end up paying a lot more, taking three times longer, and not even having a very good job done...

For general FTO stuff, i will never take my car anywhere else. I always have peace of mind with Rick and his boys working on my car.
And considering i've poured $50k into my FTO im not taking it just anywhere... If i lived in Mackai, i'd make the drive still..

The only reason i go other places is to get things that Ricks wont do..
Which is only for Tuning, Turbocharger info, Paint job, interior.

Joe n Ricks would have littereally worked on HUNDREDs if not THOUSANDS of FTOs. And i dont think any other mechanic could be as good as them. Its something that can only come with YEARS of experience through a variety of FTOs.

Besides... Rick is a nice bloke... lol

Geez i should bloody work for the guys.
But after spending a good $5-6,000 through them, i think i got every dollars worth for their work.

fair enough
just thought i'd offer this cos i dont know about everyone else, the ONLY reason why i havent been to joe and ricks yet is because the fact it's down the coast and too much of a hike for me... especially when i have to leave the car there (dont have friends nice enough to drive all the way down to the coast and back twice just for me  lol)

alright i'll leave it then :)

btw, FYI i wasnt that drunk last night :P

Too far Yang! 8O

It's a little over 2 hours for me but seriosuly I wouldn't take my car anywhere else for specific stuff, ie the belt issues I've been having.

It's just a shame at the moment that they are flat strap. The Jap mechanic has unfortunately been sent home due to Visa issues, so the are a guy short at the moment, but still worth the trip in my opinion.

Agreed Sam, Rik is a very nice guy, and for me it is great for a mechanic to show me what was broken etc. A lot of people won't do this even if asked.

Pondering taking my car to these guys just for a service... what the hell do I do for the remainder of the day down there >_> Taxi it somewhere? Broadbeach? Gah. Not overly familiar with the gold coast... I'm a sun coast person :P

What's a generic service with these guys generally cost for an FTO anyway? I'm not going to count my last one because I don't think I'd ever go to a mitsi dealer again hehe

My front bar needs some work somewhere down the line too... reckon I should go to DMD for that instead? Need a new billet grill mounted on it and some of the supporting reaffixed, it's looking a tad droopy. *mumbles something about fibreglass*

hahaha how romantic

It's a date. lol

Any day is fine with me... just need a day they can do both our cars that's good with you. I'll just tell my boss I cannot work that day and he'll have to deal with it. I'm already pissy at him atm so he'd better be on his best behaviour.

As soon as possible though lol.
