Sorry to dig up an old thread - OMFG A SATIN BLACK FTO!! I've always wondered what a satin black paintjob would look like on a fto, since very few cars can pull it off and look nice.. need more pics from front view to see what it looks like though, but that's a damn hot colour! I'm head over heels of any car tastefully painted satin black :D

i absolutely love matt black. My mate has a matt black crx show car and it looks absolutely mint from distance. He's been in autosalon a few times.

BUT the only problem is with matt colours (black/red/blue etc.) - if a bird walks on your car, you can see a shitload of scratches..... I'll take a pic one day and post it up on here. And he was told by the paint shop that they tend to fade or sidcolour faster than normal paints if left outside for long periods.

So if you get a matt colour make sure you garage it

Satin black is a little more forgiving in the scratch department.

I prefer Satin black cos Matte looks like it's a bit incomplete :?

Here's the diff between Matte and Satin:

if you want a colour that woul;d show off the curves of the fto - candy would go great! Imagine the candy reflection on the rear lines above the wheel arch and the curves on the bonnet! Pure sex :D

But if your looking for something unique - matt all the way :D

Suub - those pics are preety much the same but the matt has a less of a shine (if you could even call it that on the satin)...... I love the yellow and plack theme of the first pic

Yep, that's the point :D They're meant to look the same, except Satin has a slight gloss which works out to be a lot better since matte black sometimes looks "unfinished".

the blue looks a little too baby blue, the orange looks hot but i googled some fto pics and orange didn't seem to suit the fto as i was considering a similar orange for my girlfriends, as for the matt black it only looks good because that is one fat looking ride not because of it's colour. i know i already just posted somthing on another topic but i'm a spray painter so email me at mk1_escort@hotmail.com if you need a painter or if you just have a question about it.

sorry for the late replys here. i've only just finished reading all the posted stuff. that's good photo shop work with the red fto. and that's not a candy red, that's a red chrome. as for your matt and satin finishes there is no more or no less paint protection with either of these. it's simple the same old paint thats on every other car just with a matting agent in it. depending how much of this stuff you put into the paint determines the level of gloss or matt. oh and candy work is normally very expensive and normally breaks down fast in sunlight. again more reserved for cars that spend a lot of time in a garage.
