What's New...

Post by TCGPX »

Ok, seeing as how the SA section's been a bit quiet lately, I thought I'd spam it a bit.

My car's F@#ked at the moment, been having big time trans problems for a couple of weeks now. (Cue Steve's thoughts on tip boxes...)

Big thanks to Steve & Kesia for lending me a sensor to fault find with... Hope you recovered OK... LOL.

It's at the doc now, in the meantime I've got a hot new ride...

Image

80's style baby!! Yea!
You gotta love loan cars. LOL.
Still, beats the Daewoo with flowers, eh Steve and Kesia?

On the plus side I've learned a lot about tip transmissions and had some time to do a few little mods while she's been off the road.

We'll see how it comes back, but my cars at an auto trans mechanic who has a lot of experience with mitsi 4 speed tips.
They're doing a full rebuild and gunna deck it out with a few performance upgrades they have developed through their experience with magna rally cars which run the same box.
They have also done a lot of lancers with 4 speed tips too.
Should strengthen it up a little and give sharper gear shifts, etc.
I figure while the tip is in pieces, it might as well get some upgrade attention.
I'll give em a write up in the SA mechanics section when I've tested her out.

Also found out that Mike at Road and Track does ECU chips for lots of mitsis, so I'll be having a word to him when my baby is back...

Finally got around to spraying my calipers and hubs in silver for a bit of bling behind the wheels (Had the paint for 12 months or so now... LOL).

Disassembled and fixed the foglight switch with a relay and put in some new globes to try and match up to my HID's.

I've also replaced my rear speakers which, after 7 years of faithful service (thrashing) sadly gave up on life in a big way...

Never would have guessed the voice coils would outlast the cones being baked by the sun...
Not long after putting in my sub I was tuning my system and noticed my back speakers sounded like sh!t.
Checked settings and connections several times which were all good, then finally noticed the cracks forming in the actual speakers. A week later, even with the gains right down, and there wasn't much left of them!

Now there's a pair of 5 way 7 X 10's sitting proudly in their place. Ahhh Upgrades :D

Think that's about it.
Maybe my car should break more often, I seem to get a lot of work done on it when it does...

If all goes well, I'll give em a writeup in the mechanics section.

Lets face it, good mechanics = hard to find, no matter where you live ;)

Hey peoples. Yes, back from the shadows to chime in to this discussion.

Have not been around (in case you haven't noticed) but things are getting together now so plan on being around more from now on.

Firstly, Trav, thats a lovely ride you have!! Kinda reminds me of my $300 car which I bought to take to bathurst this year. A stunning brown 1984 Sigma SE, 5 speed manual, 330k on the clock, recon engine that was spotless and blew no smoke (I know, I didn't think it was possible either!). Was a well fun trip. Will bring some pics for you all to the next cruise. Is also lots of video from the trip - other cars were a 1984 323 and a wicked camper with smurfs painted down both sides....

Speaking of the next cruise, the 16th would suit nicely. Sadly cannot attend the xmas party (15th), as that is our anniversary so as much as we love you guys, you just come in second there!

Not a lot to report at this point, car is filthy but hopefully a cruise wil make me clean it!! Plan on being regulars again so numbers will be boosted further.

Anyhow, have to continue getting ready for work so over for now.
