Bennoz spends more money - NOS!

So you want a hairdryer on your FTO? Or do you already have a hairdryer in it? This is the section for it. All other big power projects & forced induction goes here too.

Bennoz spends more money - NOS!

Post by Bennoz »

Am trying a little experiment tomorrow. Car is going down to the shop & the heads are coming off. Were hi flowing them, which includes decking (increasing the compression ratio) and porting out all ports as big as they'll go. The 2 parts of the intake manifold are also going to be ported out to match the head ports. We're also going to try & machine out the throttle body & fit a new bigger, brass butterfly in.

Will be a while before I have accurate power figures, as the car'll need to be re-tuned on the dyno when this is all done.

Will also post some piccies of all the machining work before we bolt her back together.

Optimistically I'd like to see another 20kws out of it, but realistically it probably be between 10 & 15kws.

I shouldnt think I'd need injectors. The standard fuel system only ever runs at 60% when flat out anyway. If for some strange reason I do, I'll be pinching a set of 275cc'ers outta a Magna.

This is all probably gonna cost me somewhere in the vicinity of $2000. And that will be mates rates...

Well I'll be doing most of the disassembly / assembly, hence the good price :)

Currently running 10.75:1 compression (just a bit more than stock 10.5:1) I'll take it as high as I can without having to worry about clipping valves & filling up at Bankstwon Airport

Don't worry about the power, this thing is going to sound absolutely amazing.

People will think your packing something other than a 2 litre under that bonnet !!!

Yeah she'll be a bit rougher than the norm... espcially on idle!

I'll really have to keep the revs up on her, especially when we put in the alloy flywheel in a couple of weeks times 8O

The RPW chomoloy Fly's are great.... Mines a bit shuddery at very low rpm, but you can feel it wants to rev

Ben you ever thought about putting Mivec cams in the GR motor? what cams do you have at the moment...??

all i'm thinking about at the moment is when my crank is going to let go from all this motorsport if nothing lets go before it and if it does i might just save on the gpx motor and get a GR put the Mivec cams in and have my same redline. (only with less load/resistance apparently - i cant remember why - and less weight in the heads).

Mivec cams in a GR motor...i don't get it...
You'd be swapping over a fair few parts and the heads to support the mivec cams i think...which would mean same weight heads. The mivec cams with breathing mods WILL need to rev past 7500 as well as they're still making power (look at my dyno sheet if you want)...

Be much better doing what Bennoz is doing right now.

Thumbs up Bennoz, can't wait till i see the dyno sheet and your driving experience with this done.

Yeah mivec cams would require mivec heads... which would require mivec the oil system, the mivec computer, the mivec alternator & the mivec wiring. Too much hassle for not enough.

This afternoon my mechanic suggested something very tempting... and not that expensive. A Nos kit! 8O
