Can we start a stickied thread for members to post up reasonably priced mecahnics in the sydney area? that way we can share past experiences with each mechanic for the benefit of other? also provide some details on their location and contact number.

I thought there was something like this already. Happy to do it if it doesnt already exist. Would be best to dig up one of the threads with recommendations that has happened before. If someone wants to do a bit of research and post back here, ill sort it from there

    I highly recommend:

    T.N.K Automotive Services
Unit 8, 160 Gilba Rd (off toongabbie road), Girraween, NSW 2145
    Phone: (02) 9636 8415

The head mechanic there is a bloke called Theo, he's an absolute legend, he's really informative and knows his stuff. Ive taken not only my fto but my previous cars and my parents cars there and he always knows whats wrong and will explain exactly what is required. He's very honest and doesnt bullshit and charges very reasonable prices. Did a full major service (belts, oil filter, fuel filter, brakes, machining, oil change, air filter, coolant flush, transmission top up, etc) on our BMW 3 series and only charged us $380. He's got a review on truelocal to back up my claim.

    A good Exhaust place:

Ace Car Exhuast & Auto services
145 Magowar Rd, Girraween, NSW 2145
    Phone: (02) 96368467

Dad used them before and commented on their good workmanship, prices aren't too bad either.

    Not recommended mechanics:

    1)Ultratune (Alexandria)
    2)Andrew Brundu Total Car Care
    3)City European Automotive

Basically they know almost nothing about FTO. Like asking me what engine it has? Is it a 4cyliner or 6cylinder....
    (3) is the worse, they r not interested in your service if you bring in your own parts. Thats the 1st for me.

yeh it would make sense to put it in NSW and i would encourage the other states to start their own mechanic recommendation stickies in each of the state threads.
