MEET/BRUNCH - help support bushfire affected communities

Post by SILVERFISH »

Okay, so everyone is keen on catching up for a meet,
and most of us enjoy a cruise as well...
I was thinking we should use it as an opportunity to help
support some of the smaller bushfire affected communities.

Rather than spending our cash in some wanky beachside rich person suburb,
how about we spend it in communities & small businesses that need the tourist dollar.

This weekend I'm going to head out to visit some of the bushfire affected towns
and to find a suitable location for a Sunday Brunch meet.

I'll choose the first place (most likely the Kinglake region)
but was thinking I'll put it to a vote as to
whether we keep re-visiting the same restaurant/cafe
or whether we choose a different business/town each time.

If anyone has any friends or family that operate an eatery in the fire affected zone,
that could use the added business of our club stopping by every fortnight,
please suggest it here.

Actually, all suggestions & feedback on this topic would be appreciated.

cheers,
Gav

Top idea Gav ;)
CHRISTIANITY: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

The Victorian Government is encouraging people to spend money in Victoria's bushfire-affected areas.

Tourism Minister Tim Holding says visitors are going to be crucial to the recovery of fire-affected communities.

"People should be aware that by getting out and about with family and friends in regional Victoria, they will not only have a fantastic time, but they'll be helping to support local tourism operators, and helping with the bushfire recovery," he said.

okay... i went to Kinglake on sunday...

while i still think people should try to help invest money in bushfire affected communities,
i don't think we should go there as a club.

these areas have been decimated and you can feel it just by driving through :(

for people still wanting to go on their own to help put tourist dollars into their economy i can recommend -

The National Park Hotel
http://www.nationalparkhotel.net/

Flying Tarts Bakery & Cafe
888 Whittlesea-Kinglake Road, Kinglake West VIC 3757

as for finding a meet point for regular Sunday Brunches...
...the search continues
