Google maps would be cool, but this has GPS on the in built phone device, just need to hack the Phone ROM to get the GPS & Voice functionality working thought from what I can tell..FTEvolution wrote:Was just telling the missus on Sunday how awesome it would be to have Google maps in the car...
Would be a kick ass tool to tune your ECU too... yahoo!
Do you have any info or links on how I could hook it into the ECU?
I probably won't be attempting any tuning so that I don't screw things up there, but it would be awesome if I could get a readout of things like, speed, oil / engine bay temperatures, revs & have it display on the screen..

Been looking into getting one of these too though;

I got the HTC .. the 3rd pics was just for the car mount..Cassf88 wrote:quick question, the first two pics are of an HTC n the 3rd is of a sumsung, which phone did you get?
'tis not a phone though, 'tis a 7" Touch Screen Tablet PC running Vista (Soon to be upgraded to XP)
It also has a built in phone, so you can switch between Vista & the phone at the click of a button..

Just make sure all of the components have Windows XP drivers though. A lot of laptops don't tend to have drivers written for older OS's.
I don't know why they've put Vista on that though, it doesn't have enough grunt to run it smoothly. XP will make it run faster, but have you also considered a linux OS?
Regardless, it should be a fun toy.

Cheers, just downloaded the Microtech Software .. The Shift doesn't have an RS232 port .. so I'll need an RS232 > USB adaptor for it (hopefully it'll work)FTEvolution wrote:What ECU you running mate? Most have off the shelf laptop software and datalogging for PC. Most others have some sort of homebrew software too.
This software should be fun to play around with.. Does the job, but the GUI could use some 'Flash' enhancements though .. looks a bit too 'Windows 3.1" for my liking..

Looked these up in the book while I was there & they've got the plugs for a 6a13 VR4 Galant listed as 'BP6ES-11' .. the PFR6J-11's were listed as being for the HJ Galant 6a12 ..Bennoz wrote:NGK Platinum PFR6J-11 (2743)mr-charisma wrote:Yep, will get them as soon as I know which onesBennoz wrote:Dont you have some spark plugs you should be buying?
The NGK website says that the recommended plugs are the PFR6J-11 though..

Gonna get the PFR plugs ..
I don't even think NGK know what they're doing, the website is all over the place.. but from what I can gather, the correct plugs are are the PFR6J-11's - Listed for a 'Japanese Import' 2.5L 6a13 Galant
The other plug type seem to be for Galants originally sold in Aus (apparently)
