try ebay. Or strathfields, jbhifi etc.

I reccomend the soundstorm 900watt Monoblock. I bought one for $90 brand new and it worked like a charm.

There is a huge difference between the RMS and more commonly advertised 'max' or 'peak' power of an amplifier.

There is also the sound quality to consider. I can only imagine what one of these eBay specials would sound like in comparison to a Polk Audio or Infinity amplifier, for example. Keeping in mind that the eBay amplifier in question would, I guarantee, not be generating anything remotely close to 1600 watts.

In the end, my advice is to not take the cheap way out and to save up to get something decent. As a reward, you'll have a much louder and better quality system to show for it.

Option Audio have some of the best value amplifiers available at the moment, in my opinion. They produce good, clean sound and from my experience, are very reliable. They're one of our top sellers at WOW for a reason.

We sell their OAX801, an 800W RMS, 1 OHM stable mono block for $289. That's damn good value for money.

Have you got a budget you're looking to stay below? If you can tell me that and where you live, I'll do some research for you and see what I can come up with.

If you want cheap AND decent in the same piece of kit, then you can't go wrong with JAYCAR! They always rank highly in any independent testing. Power ratings are usually spot on and build quality is always good to very good.

Worth checking out if you don't need to have the best of the best...
