headlight pod colour

Post by kirksta »

I am planning to install a pair of angel eyes on the car this weekend and wondering, might as well paint the inside of them. Now,I'm not actually quite sure whether its legal or not to have them painted (let's say white or chrome).
If anyone has tried this or know the legalities with this, it would be a great help.

Thanks Kirk

angel eys are illegal btw.

i think anymodification to the headlights and taillights is illegal, but as far as i know, you shouldnt worry, never known anybody that has copped a fine for painting the plastic inside.

never heard of anyone getting caught for them... All the s15's around my area have their inners painted, so im guessing its not a strict law that they enforce here.

Love your lights dwayne i just had to take a pic at the bonfire.... Which is now in my gallery :D

As to how, bake the lights, unscrew the cover, send it away to get done. When it comes back, screw it back in and rebake.

I got m ine done at the dashboard centre in Melbourne - www.dashboardcentre.com.au (and it probably is CF wrapped). They take a couple of weeks to come back if you send them to him. As to price, it would be less than $100 I think, but youd have to ask. I have spares of the insides that id be happy to lend people (as long as you cover postage). Just send me back the old ones when you have replaced them.

Everything is going well so far, can anybody tell us which specific wires to connect the angel eyes wires to? Were planning on connecting it to the fog lights, but unsure of the wiring.

Also is possible to bake the fog lights so it can be painted inside? If so, how do you detach the wiring behind it? 2 bulbs have been disconnected but the 3rd wont come out.

        Thanks!

you can bake the foggies aswell... i have done it numerous times to get moisture out and its the exact same process as the headlights

as for wiring, i've wired mine up to seperate switch....
battery positive -> switch -> angel eye box -> earth

but if you want just splice into the fog wire and run it through there.

Finally completed... it looks great ill put up some pics this arvo after work. I also done my fog lights, which wasn't to hard to do. I thought i didn't do to bad considering it was my first time hauling out my front bar and putting it back on again.
Only thing now is washing the car before posting up some pics.

        THat looks awesome :D
Im looking at doing mine this weekend as well! Was just wondering I have a red GPX and would it be advisable to paint the pod red or maybe even white?? I thought white would look more interesting? Anyone painted a red one with white before?
