New member - New Racecar :)

Post by Shane001 »

Hi Guys,

Thought I'd better introduce myself.

I've just bought a 95 FTO GPX.

This was imported by the previous owner a few years back for track use only (cannot be registered). He only really used it for track days, never raced it. I plan to get it log booked with CAMS as a 2F Production Sportscar, then go race it!

My first race will be the 1 hour enduro at Oran Park at the end of October with Prod Sports. Some of the cars I'll be racing with include MX5's, RX7's, Porsches and possibly even the odd Ferrari! Should be fun :) I then plan to enter it for Bathurst at Easter next year.

First thing I did was take it to the dyno to see if everything was OK with the engine. The results were better than I expected.

I'm now hoping to have it out at Eastern Creek this Saturday for a practice / test day so if anyone's in the area feel free to drop in and say hi. Entry is free to the circuit. Just look for me in the garages in pit lane.

Cheers.

Shane.

It's pretty much stock, has to be for 2F regs.

Has extractors, cold air intake, oil cooler and filter relocation, that's about it as far as I can tell so far. I only bought it last week ;)

I wish i can be like you. Transforming my ride as a trackcar. But given mine is the only transport between me and my gf. Its hard to put it out of action for mods, even for a few days.
Wait till my gf have a transport of her own then things will happen. :)

For his sake, I hope you don't go on the track with him Ben, otherwise he may have to take out a homeloan

Welcome mate.

125kw atw is quite impressive for the mods you listed. Have fun with it. Im hoping to do a bit of track soon, hopefully we can organise something soon for us track lovers.

Thanks for all your replies guys, unfortunately we're not going to make it to EC this week, took the timing covers off to track down an oil leak, and found a hole in the timing belt

Image

Might be OK for a run but not worth risking it seeing as these engines are interference engines! So looks like we'll be pulling the front of the engine apart instead

Yeah that's another reason we won't be going out this weekend, could be something floating around in the bottom housing, could end up with a real mess 8O
