2009 Brisbane Shotgun Run

Post by Shotgunrun »

Hey guys.. i know i'm new here but thought you might be interested in this, so have a read and come along it's going to be a hell of a day

ABOUT THE EVENT
This event is a unique style of cruise taking place on the Sunday 24th of January comprising of 4 stages surrounding Brisbane each stage with a target time (within the speed limit) your aim is to arrive at the checkpoints as close to this time as possible with one point being deducted for every second you are late... or early. We will be providing lunch on the day and also a presentation/after party following the event and $5,000 for the entrant who comes in with the most points, 2nd and 3rd prizes will also be available. On the day you will be provided with vehicle number, a route map and all the target times along with a set of rules for the course. This is set to be a fantastic day for all car enthusiasts no matter what car you drive and we are hoping to get as many cars as possible to really make this a spectacle

THE ROUTE
We will be starting in north Brisbane at Westfield Northlakes on the Redcliffe peninsula, 7 am Driver registration for an 8 am start, from there we will make our way up the Blackall Range to Maleny for our first checkpoint and a short stop. From there we head south through the sweeping roads alongside Somerset dam to Esk for our second checkpoint and lunch stop with a provided spit roast for all participants, we will then get moving again at 1pm still heading south to Boonah in the heart of Brisbane’s scenic rim for our third checkpoint and another quick stop, then our last leg north through Beaudesert to the hyper dome at Loganholme will take us to the chequered flag where we will be presenting the prizes and hosting an after party to wrap up a great day of cruising.

POINT SYSTEM
For each stage you will be allocated 2,000 points, also 2,000 points for an overall time making a total of 10,000 points available. At each stage you will lose 1 point for every second you arrive off the target time early or late, e.g. if the target time was 75 minutes and you arrived in 70 minutes you would lose 300 points leaving you with 1,700 points for the stage. The entrant with the most points at the end of the day will claim first prize.

BONUSES
In addition to the points on offer for the stages we will have 10 bonus lots of 250 points to be awarded during the day at the organizers discretion for people who are encompassing the spirit of the day e.g. HAVING FUN. We will also be naming the nominating the best car for the run.

REGISTRATION
All drivers will be encouraged to pre register either by contacting me or on our website. We will be charging a registration fee for early bookings of $100.00 to cover the costs of venue hire for the after party, lunch, timekeeping and of course the cash prizes with 10% of the proceeds also going to the starlight foundation. All entrants must be registered and all fees paid before the 20th of December 2009 so we can finalise the grid. Late entrants after 20th December may be taken if places are available at $150.00 so it will pay to get in early

The Aim of this event is to bring all types of cars and people together just to have a bit of fun and make a bit of money for charity along the way. Anyone found to be acting in a way that contradicts the feel and atmosphere of the day will be disqualified.

This sounds very interesting. If I haven't sold the FTO I would be keen to try this. Then again if the weather is good at the time it might be a lot of fun in the jeep too :D

Unfortunatly $100 was the cheapest we could squeeze it down to to cover costs with the number of car's we are expecting to get i hope it wont deter people away from what is sure to be a fantastic day.

Is it $100 per person...or $100 per vehicle registered. If so does this cover passengers aswell?
