I was thinking about this the other day, the valves on my GR are as shown below basically. But looking at this basic view you would think that having solid lifters would be better for power. Because when the lifter is highest and the cam lobe is down the valve would be opened more than if the lifter is compressed.

So are there any other types of lifters for the Gr (non mivec) or solid ones?

you can get some made of higher grade steel as far as i know

Waste of time. Only high rpm race motors use solid lifters to avoid valve slap in the top end of the rev range. Noisy as hell.

What could however help for horsepower, apart from high spec cams, would be offset rockers. Ie the distance of the rocker arm between the cam contact point is made longer than the distance from the pivot point (tappet) end.

I used sets on old mini motors that were either 1.5:1 or 1.7:1 offset rockers. So if you do the math, if the cam lobe height was 10mm, the valve would be depressed 15mm or 17mm.

Shame nobody make them for the FTO!

This is a set I bought a few years back for my mini. They also had roller bearing tips on the valve end, so when the valve was depressed, there was no friction drag on the tip.
