Exhaust Mod
Im looking at getting a catback job done for my car at the moment, starting off with the catback from a stock standard system. Now what im wanting to know is that, is it ok for the catback system to be 2.5" in size and still be able to use the existing extractors, collector pipe, & cat ?
And are there size choices too with the extractor and collector pipes or are they just one size ?
Im still thinking at this point if i should get the rpw headers since i saw them cheap at the site, or if i should go with hurricane when theyr $700(i understand theyr the same as rpw, just that i don't know if theyr coated) from liverpool exhaust - where im getting my exhaust done...

ic, so i dont have to worry about picking the wrong size when it comes to the collector pipe.
so has anyone had their exhausts done at Carline mufflers? Liverpool exhaust is a bit far from St marys and carline is a suburb away but i wanna know if there are some things that are of concern... last time i quoted carline for a catback was $650 which i thought wasnt bad, havnt checked livo yet though. Oh and hopefully they do installations for the varex muffler plus the hard wiring to the battery...

hey gholdwayne.
i just got a quote from Performance exhausts last week for 2.5 mandrel piping, with 2.5 high flow cat and muffler(redback) and twin tips for $1100 at Performance Exhaust in Penrith (Nepean Square)
I talked to the fabricator Mark there for a fair bit all his work comes with 2 years workmanship warranty,
Im gonna get some more quotes but seems like $1100 aint oto bad?? right?

that seems little steep but you are buying muffler too....
I guess thats for stainless system? which you prob dont need as will way outlast car go for mild steel and should be cheaper.
Mine cost $350 for hiflow cat, resonator and 2.5 inch piping mandrel in mild steel with de-cat pipe but I used existing muffler however I do a lot of work for them, would usually be around 6-700 ish I would imagine. That does not include extractors or why pipe either which just directly bolt up

^^ yeah im really contemplating on that but it feels more of a wank factor since i know that the extractor half of the zost is the performance path.
Even so, i want to get the catback with the throaty sound that i want but then installing the high flow cat and extractors might change the tone when i do that after the catback job, - it might change some frequencies in which the resonator was designed to noise cancel for, in turn changing the overall tone.
Or does it not affect the sound at all ? im really counting on advice right now, i really want the catback tbh. tone is just as important as performance to me - i want to enjoy exhaust tone while driving, its just so enjoyable to me that way since im less inclined to spirited driving(petrol budgets)..
