For those who know something about Monaros, is 0-100kmh about 6-7sec?

Not sure of the exact time but I think 6.7 seconds for the auto and about 6.2 for the manual.

Lol, not when it weighs 1.7 tonnes...

The GTO on the other hand... well I saw one of those the other day. Must have been totally worked. He planted it coming out of a side street and fishtailed 100 meters or so down the road. Shoulda heard this thing roar. I was wetting myself

Yea, according to Redbook they are rated @ 6.5, so pretty evenly matched to an FTO really...

Very interesting. Those new VE v8's otoh..

I know they're heavy but those v8's also ooze torque from idle up lol. Perhaps it's something to do with gearing too.. i mean, they're most likely setup to devour highways at low rpms. I remember driving my fto down the southern freeway to goto uni...120km/h would have me near 4k rpm in 5th gear =/

Interesting zuihoujueding...frying a cv8 off the line, they have the rwd launch advantage too.

I couldn't agree more, Delvance!
thats why i said i was surprised. the monaro was 3/4 car length behind me when i reached 60km/h. I do not know if it had a good launch, but i sure can hear its engine roar while im busy stepping on my gas, staring at my rpm.
When i step on my brake at 60km/h, i then have the time to turn around and see the monaro roaring past me at 80km/h the least. I knew i wont stand a chance after 60km/h onwards.
To summerise that, i thought it was a fair and interesting result.

yeh but imo the fto is quicker accelaration at low speeds

is this actually a correct observation?

Downy.

FTO's peak torque is almost at redline.

LS2s peak torque is at about 3.5k

lol i mean at redline but like in 1st and 2nd it seems to hold its own with other cars
but other cars seem to be faster than it when it gets to higher speeds

Correct in that regard. Had a fella in a VE GTS playing with me on the highway not long ago. Gave it a squirt in 3rd just to compare, and quite frankly, the FTO simply doesn't compare :(

If you keep it above 5000 rpm, you'd be in the 'sweet spot' but yes, the torque difference between a v8 and a 2L v6 is substantial enough to make a difference. We talk about this so often though and quite frankly, the topic is getting frustrating. :?
