Time has come! 1998 White GPvR for sale

Post by FTO-LEO »

Like it says the time has come for me to sell my FTO  I have loved driving and working on it for the past two years but I think its time for a change.

http://www.carsales.com.au/used-cars/pr ... D9FF1F6E2E

I was thinking of getting an RX8, but after reading a few things (like having to top up the oil every 800km and only getting 400km from a 60l tank) Im not sure now.

Any suggestions?

:( Good luck with the sale...

I was interested in a rx8 too... is that filling the oil every 800km when driven sportily or like a granny? :/

Engine flooding in the rx8 is extremely exaggerated, if you properly warm your engine (like you should with any car) before you take off, it will never happen. Yeh you do need to top off the oil every now and again, which is no big deal. From memory after researching them i think the post 2005 model's featured a 3rd oil injector to combat starvation.

Rx8 is a good choice IMO, if i ever get another car, that would be next on the list.

Good luck with the sale :D

Actually, you ask any car manufacturer and they wil tell you to NOT warm up your car by leaving it idling.. All warming up should be done with normal driving conditions. Car's in general shouldnt be left idling for extended times for any reason. However you should leave your car warm down for a minute or two after a hard drive especially round hills.

I usually let it idle for about 30 secs then just drive it while keeping the rpm very low to let it warm up completely. Sometimes I won't idle at all, just drive conservatively for the first few minutes. On really cold mornings, it used to take 5 min to get it to proper operating temp

you still have to let your car idle for about 30 seconds to a minute, just to get the oil out of the sump and moving around

it tkaes a lot longer than just driving car until temp gauge says its warm that is just water temp

oil pressure is still high and oil temp take a lot longer to be optimum

and the oil that takes longer is gearbox a good 15mins driving before everything is running at normal temp
