Brake Prices

Post by bass_twitch »

Hey Guys

I am looking at getting myself some basic aftermarket brakes,
I have been quoted these prices, just wondering if these are on the money or if there is a better way to get them?
ROTORS –
Front (pair); rear (pair)
Standard – $104.39 $261.36
Slotted - $184.80 $325.99
Dimple & grooved – $360.80 $501.60

PADS – Front; rear
Standard – $40.81 $40.81
Mid-range- $65.26 $83.75
Performance- $171.60 $160.00
This quote was for parts only.

And should I bother replacing both back and front sets? (As I have warped discs, but i am guessing they are only the front ones..)

Thanks

The above means nothing if you don't tell us what brands and models.

Yeh I figured as much, however in the email the guy I've been emailing didn't tell me which brands or models.
Ok I'll update you guys with more info when I find out.
But in the mean time, do you guys know good places to get slotted rotors for the FTO? (entry level, cheaper, as i am a student and hence have no money.. haha)

Also try Matthew at Race Brakes Sydney.

When I got my DBA4000 rotors a few weeks back I called half a dozen places, he was second cheapest (but only $5 in it) but the level of support and advice was second to none. Give him a call he'll look after you. I think the Street slotted are around $100 each. More than enough for street use. Not sure on pads, but really for street use I wouldn't worry too much about this, as long as you don't buy absolute cheap sh*t, maybe the Bendix Ultimate might be the go.

Can also try my mate James @ Tubular Suspension Systems. He can do rotors & EBC pads.

Just about to grab a set of reds from him for the beast.

Thanks guys
Ok so those prices that I were quoted were for RDA rotors. The pad branding was from RDA, Lucas, Ferodo.
Is that about on the market, price wise? I'm about to do some shopping around, and some phone calls, probably this morning,

So should I be looking at just front, or so I have to do the rear set too?

I'd be going DBA over RDA. The DBA street slotted's will be around $200 pair.

As for pads I only drive mine on the racetrack so not much help here 8)

Just get the standard discs, with red pads and put new fluid and bleed.

Your not on a racetrack, save the money and spend it elsewhere.

I can pull myself up fine and ive just replaced the rotors with standards, bled the brakes and replaced them with i forget which brand pads but they are between red and yellow EBC's

Cool thanks guys, I've got a few things to consider now

One last question, If I decide to put the slotted on the front, but leave the back stock, will that be a problem or is it entirely ok?

that will be fine as the fronts do 90% (approx) of the work.
