Post by Rambo »

Just wondering what is the perfect cell cat for the fto?
lower the cells , louder it is right? does that mean more power?
, and what size do you have in your exhaust system and what brand?
I already had an exhaust sytem in the car when i bought it,

^^^ Yehp, what he said. Except for the muffler since you are in Ireland. we cant buy mongoose/blueflame/hks locally around here, except maybe an hks or two that i've seen in import shops.

For a high flow cat, looking at loudness, it only increases the volume and rumble subtly, but if you put headers/extractors in, i think it will give the car's growl more body and depth.

As for performance, the catback by itself will only give minimal gains there. Adding a high flow cat, it will only give a small but enough to be noticeable gain, but only because it's full potential will not be utilized until the extractors are upgraded as the stock one's downpipe is very restrictive.

They degrade over time anyway! And guess what they do as they degrade? They crumble & blow out the exhaust.
Its not an 'instant' fine, you'll just get told to put a new one in. They only way you get hit with the big bucks
is if they can prove you've deliberately punched it out - aka have a shiney new one in there thats clearly empty...

But not to worry, cats take aaages to degrade. I know mine was replaced on import back in '06 or '07 i think, still a stock replacement, and the honeycomb was still very much intact when I had a look at it after replacing with a high flow 200cell one. Could not see daylight too well through the stock one.
