Re: full plug and play computer
Look at the treads by Aza and Dstocsk ... They put in Halltech's and there was an adapter they used to plug in ... Think it was off a magna.. Or maybe they ended up making a connection for the FTO
I just had to add it ......

Not sure what you mean by plug and "PLAY". If your talking about not having to get tuned then the answer is no for what your doing.
I highly recommend the Haltec. The emange is a great unit but only a few selected tuners will touch it. Get the one bennoz has it the latest and greatest and has all the functions you would ever need plus every tuner and his dog can and will tune it.

Re: full plug and play computer
The haltech ECU's as stated, can be used by modifying an EVO harness and then making it plug and play, but to use hte haltech series you have to modify one of the cam trigger wheels. The alternative is that Vipec now do a plug and play system with the stock triggers no modifications required.
The only final issue is no system at this moment will be able to control the factory variable inlet manifold motor (To my current knowledge).
Your best option would be to set it up as a partial piggy back so get a universal Haltech or Vipec / Link ECU, cut hte injection and ignition wires, run them and let the factory ECU controle verything else. That way you can control the mivec, ignition, injection but retain the variable runner ilet manifold and have the factory ECU still control the idle speed, air con etc
Another way to do it is get one of the Emanage boomslang harnesses, and use that so you don't have to cut any wiring. We are doing a lot more of these type conversions these days especially on newer model vehicles.

Its a Platinum Sport 1000. Being a full standalone, we had to rewire half the car for it.Gholdwayne wrote:what's the one bennoz has ?
Modifying the cam tigger wheel wasn't to hard thou, just ground off 2 of the small tabs & one of the large, so its just using the one large one.

Re: full plug and play computer
YOu have to rewire the evo harness not hard but far easier to get a boomslang harness for the emanage and use that instead

Or get a FIELD ONE-TOUCH CONNECTOR from PerfectRun for $150.
Correct part number for the FTO is CN-4.

Re: full plug and play computer
Are you going full standalone or running it as a piggyback?
Does it have direct support for the FTO? (6A12 Mivec)
How much was it?

Re: full plug and play computer
yeah its a full stand alone "plug and play" no wiring involved. it was $2200 not tuned. was talking to the tuner he said its like a motec in a red box the was telling me a few things about the features like hooking up the the abs and when it detects the tyres spinning it backs the boost off and launch control, can flat change it and the list just went on if he thought it was good and his tuning it i thought id go with it...fingers crossed

Re: full plug and play computer
yep no probs.. the tuner im taking it to is tuning it by heat had to weld little nuts in the extractors so he can tune each individual cylinder to the right heat cant wait to hear it its been a big project to get it to this stage.

Re: full plug and play computer
Thats really interesting to hear that someone is recomedning a wolf over the haltech range. The haltech range is so much more advanced, especailly the platinum sports series over the wolfs its not funny.
I don't know of any Haltech agent who would in a sense, go backwards like that. The Wolf systems are equivelent to the older haltech E8/E11 systems, more than capable but certainly not anywhere near as good as a motec.
Makes you wonder how much Haltech work that firm actually does. Honestly, Volumetric Efficiency Tuning Versus Direct Injection tuning there is just no comparison. Honestly, do some more ringing around.
For teh FTO, the Vipec ECU's have a direct plug and play, which is adaptable to the mivec modesl. That uses same injection tuning methods as Motec, Haltech and Links. Superier and a virtual plug and play with no wiring changes. I would be looking for one of these if you want the easiest setup.

Re: full plug and play computer
Vipec do a plug and play board for the Legnum / GTO range. They use the same plugs and crank / cam sensors as the FTO.
There may be very minor differences in the fuel pump / Air con outputs and of course the addition of the mivec outputs, but those are easily added to the board internally or externally.
I beleive it is the V44 board. I personally use more Links rather than the Vipec range but that is because I can get better pricing than Vipec. Vipec is a Links ECU with different firmware but uses identical programming.
If you sent a wiring diagram to Vipec they would easily adapt the board to suit the mivec no problems. BUt you would lose control over the variable inlet manifold.

Re: full plug and play computer
Hey David would this be why i get an error code for the variable inlet manifold because i have the emanage ultimate hooked up?Mitsiman wrote: BUt you would lose control over the variable inlet manifold.
oh by the way results from the tune is 116kw atw and 274nm torque
but yeah ive got no more money and its not running right.
with these cams the emanage is telling me that the injectors are maxing out around the rev limiter as well...
