Thats actually quite resonable. He has put a big mark up on the consumables but really any mechanic would, I think you should be happy with that. The only BS thing is he quoted you so low to begin with, obviously to get the work but you definitly havent been ripped.

Yeah I didn't think it was to bad, as long as he has actually done all of the above.

Don't feel too bad.

I got it way worse.

Mine had complications and final bill was doubled the original quote.
Amount is more than doubled what you paid, and I supplied 70% of the parts(not in bill) used too.

They did a lot of extra unbilled work for me too, so I ain't complaining.

Edit: Changed "unpaid" to "unbilled"

Better than me, went there to fix AC + tappets.
told me it's the evaporator leaks, changed the evaporator + gas refill = 600
adjust tappets = 300

after 2 months, ac blowing hot air again (should be all the gas leaks out)
and, tappets noise coming back.. slowly getting louder and louder.

spent 900 for nothing.
i don't know where to go anymore. :( should i return to j&r ?

my fto is getting nowhere, not even with a plate on it'
did i mention that somehow out of nowhere, my plate have been stolen? :facepalm2:

when i first saw it, i didn't even notice the plate is missing.
only got a feeling that it looks a bit different, a little bit more sexy!

and kate, sorry for hijacking your thread.

I'm not sure, I'll have to check my engine mount to make sure its brand new, if it is, i would still recommend them.

$90 an hour is the lower end of the scale. A lot of mechanics will charge anywhere up to $120 an hour.

Only place I will ever go for AC repairs is Mr Cool 3369 3033 in Milton Brisbane.

Have used them twice and very happy with service I have had from them.

Yes they are pricey but once it is fixed it is fixed proper.

Have had 2 compressor reco's done, and both are still going years later.
