My new daily

Post by koolio1234 »

Needed something for myself as sharing a daily was becoming a major inconvenience so I went trawling and came up with this, Its a little rough on the outside but their reliable cars, good on fuel and cheap for me to insure as well :D nothing special about it from the looks of it:
Image

....................Until you pop the bonnet

A gleaming fresh 4AGE 20 valve (silvertop) producing 120kw at the fly with 90,000km on it. While its obviously no fto its makes it less painful to move on, especially when you hear the valve train crying at 8000rpm  pretty overkill for a daily huh

came with a nice interior as well, seats and trim are from a corolla levin/sprinter and are nice and comfy. dont really have much plans for it other than to service it and keep it going, for now anyways.

Im so tempted to slap on a 2.25" exhaust system and extractors

So hard to fight the urge. Maybe a battery relocation to the boot, longer intake pipe and boxed pod with a front cold air feed to the front bar, AHHH somebody stop me, keep trying to convince myself its only a daily.

you can always make it a fun daily!

I mean, your fto, i'd assume, was a daily and it had breather mods :D .. why not do it to this so the change from fto to corolla aint so radical, performance wise :thumright:

The temptation was too strong

Getting a quote for a 2.25" mild steel exhaust with a sports muffler, probably a resonator too so the neighbours dont complain  I think I can get a bigger or better flowing cat from another vehicle such as a commodore or falcon.

Getting a 2nd hand set of extractors from the many fully sick written off corollas

DIY a boxed pod with its own Cold air feed from the front bar once I get some space saving done. For now I'll leave the stock box.

I bought some new rims for it, BSA 17" just couldn't help myself, they were so damn cheap and would take a bit of the granny look away. Btw, its sitting on lovell lowered springs which are about 2 inch lower than stock.

Also put some new federal 595s up front 205/40/17 :D

Good one.

My old man has that model corolla...it handled really well after springs/shocks/swaybars/strut bars/bushings/wheels/tires. Lol, basically a full kit.. Currently running a 4agze converted to t28 turbo.. weight reduced to <1000kg and over 200fwkw's on pump fuel haha..

I've always wanted an ae101 rolla with 20v 4age or older rolla with 4age as a fun daily but don't think it's gonna happen. Would like to stick a 3sge into my ae111 if i get the chance though :D

Yeah, I've always been dumbfounded at how they managed to squeeze out so much power from a 1.6L 4 banger. It handles a lot better now with the federals than it did with its crappy stock tyres.

Its a beautiful engine, but I've realised when they did the conversion they left the stock headers and exhaust system from the original 1.6L (4AFE) instead of putting on the goodies that came with the 20V so its not quite running at its full potential. Despite that it still pulls like a donkey especially considering it weighs only a little over a ton.

A new exhaust system should fix that and open it up a fair bit :D

The wheels look good, gots a bit of dish in there and doesn't look over the top too, dw khalil, what you're doing is what anyone who wants a fun daily would do - basic performance mods: intake/exhaust/harder suspensions. I think thats called the stage 1 upgrade.
