Lowering (need piece of mind!)

Post by StraydoG »

Looking at lowering the car and using Camskill as an example. Those Apex springs seem alright? Had a search for reviews on them (other cars too) and most people seem happy with them. Im trying to see weather its worth paying that much extra for Tiens or other brands. Anyone want to share their POV?

Also with springs it seems to be cheaper getting overseas as everything else but what else do I need to know? Just get a wheel alignment after and I should be sweet? The 17s I put on my GX has raised it a fair bit so wanting to get a better look and some performance at the same time!

Go the king springs mate,
and seeing as your in NZ gonna be heaps cheaper to buy the parts there.

Also get alignment done and maybe check condition of shocks, best to replace at same time as springs ;)

I have had a quick look around and to get King springs it going to cost me $400 where as the Apex will be $250 shipped. I heard that theres the possibility of changing the shocks, are they generally expensive? I was questioning weather to get BC gold suspension for $1200 but thought that I wont need that much.

Just go the coilovers
CHRISTIANITY: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

Although I can see why you would say coilcovers price i an issue.

$1200 vs $250 - Then you have installation too.

I had a quote for springs + shocks + installation + camber tops and it would have cost me ~$1500

For some reason(I forgot why), I instead, went for BC Gold Premium coilovers for $1400 installed and i am very happy with them. I would recommend getting a softer spring rate, i think that would be 5kg & 3kg, front & rear respectively, or something softer, aka, close to stock springs. Mine has 7kg & 5kg with the damper halfway, a bit stiff since my offset is a bit tight and lowered with only a finger space, tyre to fender.

Where was that quote from? Ferrari? :o

He just wants to lower the car, not go racing! Apex springs are good, I bought a set from Camskill years ago. Freight was pricey thro, if you can find Kings, go with them.
Shame your not in Sydney, I'd swap 'em out for 2 cases of beer.

^^ wahahah, actually, you recommended the shop to me ben, tubular suspensions, with the lovell+kyb with tein cambertops.

though it's a good idea like vipfto said, replace the shocks along with the springs.

True...

It would be good to incept the idea though, since chances are his shocks are old anyway

Yeah mainly the lowering cos the 17s raised the car a lot but if they improve performance a little with it Im happy!
Thing is theres money to be spent on everything. Getting a brake upgrade and air intake piping done so it adds up.
