any ways to increase performance?

Post by gpx000 »

hey guys i was just wondering if i could do anything to increase the performance of my car?
mods that arent too pricey?

also i have a foam pod filter, and im planning to change it since its dirty. i bought an air filter cleaner and cleaned it but i think it needs to be replaced. am i able to just purchase a normal air filter and put it on?
are there any suggestions for a brand or something?

also i just saw types of air filters. do 'power intake filters' do anything? will it make a difference?

thanks guys, much appreciated. :D

dont take your filter out, theres not much else u can do after intake and exhaust. The next thing would be maybe a bored out throttlebody, then a piggy back, port and polish.

thanks silverGPX! buuuut you need to dumb it down for me hahaha!
i dont really know much about cars. this is my first car so yeah.
so i should just leave my air filter in it and just clean it every let say 30,000km or so?
coz i bought an air filter cleaner and gave it a wash. its clean now but just thought i'd replace it.

are the jobs you suggested expensive and big?

Depends what expensive and big is to you, an exhaust isn't such a big job but depending where you go could set you back a few hundred to a grand, and then if you go for headers you'll be up for even more... with saying that you'll get more gain.

Cold air intake with a larger intake pipe and boxed POD filter.

After that theres not to much you can really do, haltech, tune the car to your new mods and thats about it... if you wanted to continue the $ to kw would be ridciously high.

Save your coin for a year and just swap engines ;)

and how much am i looking at for the boxed pod air filter? just roughly? for a decent one.

but wouldnt it be better for the engine since its sucking in cold and clean air right?
i really think mine needs to be replaced haha. the cleaner ddnt really do anything to it.
so much oil. i really want a boxed one though. but is it pricey?

here's the dumbed down version:
it's a pod filter ... in a box.

box is heat shielded (i.e. insulated, in the same principles as your house or fridge is).

air is fed to the box (and there for to the pod filter) via a pipe from outside.

join the dots and you are done.

ohhh alright so it just sucks in cold air into the pod and then into the engine? :S

yeah when i opened the cover since its just aluminum with bolts, i touched the pod since its foam and it was greasy/oily and i wasnt sure if thats how it was meant to be. hence why im deciding to change it
im guessing its not normal 8O.

Your car's already got most of the off the shelf go fast bits, including the UAS intake & UAS collector exhaust section. Your next upgrade should be in Haltech country.
