Engine Oil

Hey guys,
not sure if this has been covered or not but i cant find it on the forums.
I am currently about to do a 125k major service on the car, and im using 5-30 fully synth in it atm.
My question here is: has anyone tried, and noticed a beneficial difference between say 10-40 and 0-40?
My engine is running pretty damn good, and i dont think ill hit any leaking problems if i switch down to a 0 rating, but i was just wondering if the Mivec FTO if at all can benefit more from a thinner synthetic oil over a thicker one.
I was looking at the castrol edge sport 0-40 full syth to put in - anyone here running that at the moment?
While im here - is there a specific filter anyone recommends with it?

Im using martini racing 0-40w oil at the moment and it loves it.
reset the battery at the same time and it runs sooo much better afterwards.

mines done close to 176xxxkm's and its running good.

For filters use k&n. HP 1006 or 1010 will do the job. i think....

Mate, oils are so damn complicated who knows what's best - everyone has differing opinions.

You do realise what the listed viscosities mean don't you?
If you went for a 0w-40, yes your oil your oil would be thinner at startup, but once warmed up, would be thicker than what you currently have.
Some people also believe it is best to minimise the difference between cold and warm viscosities as the bigger the difference, the more viscosity modifiers are required.

I did read once on here that someone was adamant that their car loved thinner oils like a 5w-30, especially when MIVEC came around, but again, who knows.

Unless you live in a really cold climate, I think you would see no benefit from a 0 grade oil.

I take it you are talking about the ECU, but even then why?
You are only changing oil.

im not saying it had anything to do with the oil. it just run a lot smoother after the ecu reset.

Tried some nylon synth 10-40 expensive sh*t but no good on the litters.

Who's tried tried a thicker 15w oil?? Better for start up noise???

I need a new oil. Was using Penrite Sin 15 (15W40) but the morons have decided to 'add 10' to all their premium oils! So it's now a 15W50!

i definitely recommend it.
