4 speed tip - Gear Ratio

Post by phunkydude »

1st gear : 80km/h (80)
2nd gear : 125km/h (45)
3rd gear : 190km/h (65)
4th gear : Top speed Unknown/Limited.

2nd gear seems to be fast. The speed climbs fast as well as the RPM is rising fast.
But 3rd gear is absolute sh*t. Speed takes forever to climb and the RPM move in slow motion.

Just trying to find out why 3rd gear is so sluggish.
I assume the shorter the gear ratio, the faster the rpm climbs, thus better acceleration?

Sorry for my noob-ness. I also not quite sure what i've stated here makes any sense.

Does the Fto get to 80 in first? From memory I recall hitting 5-6k in second at 80? Rev the second gear does more than 140.

Wish it had a closer gear ratio??
125 to 190km/h took forever.

At that speed your biggest enemy is wind resistance. Has absolutely nothing to do with gear ratios.
