Re: i just bought a 450hp twin turbo Porche
I hear you.. I was very much of the same opinion about SUV drivers myself, and I was NEVER a 4WD fan (too cowboy) but I needed something prestigious (my daughter's friend's dad's drive Ferrari California's and Audi R8's-- 'private school') I know it's superficial and I LOVE my Fto but I just felt so povo picking her up from school. I was going to get a 911 but it just felt a bit selfish considering the Fto was already to small for everyone and the 911 even smaller. So I just had to man up and buy an SU bloody V... but I still got my Porche. I did realize that I've never been stuck behind one of these before (unlike other 'pointlessly large, arrogantly driven, urban assault vehicles')...for obvious reasons.
I have noticed though a significant negative biasness towards me.. nobody lets me in from a side street anymore, people will try and block me EVERYTIME I change lanes and cut me off.. in fact if you want to see some rude obnoxious drivers go for a drive in an SUV!

Re: i just bought a 450hp twin turbo Porche
update iv now lowered it and put a deposit on a set of 22x10” 3PC custom iForged wheels wich I will get next month. fuel economy is 27l/100km thats because I found that if I turn the traction control off it lifts the rev limiter from 4500rpm to 8000rpm and i can not stop myself from hitting that button

Re: i just bought a 450hp twin turbo Porche
Personally, I've always liked the Cayennes...I think they're a very attractive looking SUV, and after scrolling down this thread, I've come to like them even more!
Are you actually going to do anything to this one appearance-wise? Surely you're not going to be clambering over rocks in the bloody thing!
The old man used to have an '02 Carrera, and has since upgraded in 2007 or so to a dream machine...But from my memory, one of the most uncomfortable seats to sit in! Are the seats at least comfortable in these, given the additional space they accommodate?

Re: i just bought a 450hp twin turbo Porche
Wow, 2007 Carrera... I'm so jealous! We have taken it rock climbing, it was HEAPS of fun but it got all scratched up so we decided not to do it again. I would like to put a body kit on it but they're expensive, originals are at least. 20k plus. But I can buy a replica tech art magnum wide body for $5,500, not sure if I like it though.
I haven't taken any pics since I had it lowered but here's one of it in the snow.
Here she is at the wheel shop.
And these are the ones we decided on... they're a lot deeper dish than this pick though.

Can't say I'm a fan.
Each to their own.
You obviously don't take it off road?

Next time I'm up in Brisbane, I'll have to come round and give you a race. Failing that, get some mud-terrains for it and I'll take you on out at LCMP or somewhere like that.
I'll have an FTO one day... i swear!

I don't think he's done what I call off roading. Given he is buying those dinner plates meanwhile.
Nor will he be ever again.

Re: i just bought a 450hp twin turbo Porche
We went for a drive in the Grampians to test it out . We didn't go as hard as a lot of people on YouTube did but we were surprised at how well it did esp. because we only had road tyres on. We didn't get into any trouble or have to redo any obstacles.. it just went right over.

If that's your missus speaking, she needs to consider a career in commentating!

I know how capable they are.
Friend of mine has the same model as yours; and every weekend has it offroad in similar, if not slightly worse conditions.
Meanwhile, he's had the air suspension pump replaced about 3-4 times.

Re: i just bought a 450hp twin turbo Porche
They're a fantastic vehicle, without a doubt. The Traction control system in them takes them a lot further than they should really go. Kind of makes me wish I had it in the Tri... Anyone up for some programming?

Re: i just bought a 450hp twin turbo Porche
We had the pump go too.. had it 'rebuilt' with a VW Toureg Kit and just got the pump from Porsche.. saved a couple of grand.
Funny you should mention my misses being a commentator, she had me turn the volume down low while I edited it because she couldn't stand the sound of herself!

I might take you up on that next time I'm in Sydney!
