i'd be extra, extra careful to fork out my $23K for a GPvR... i suspect it is only a face-lifted GPX/GR (perhaps with version-R stickers thrown in) but the real difference lies underneath the skin... Genuine GPvR usually fetch in the low $30K in dealer yards or mid $20K if you buy direct from auctions because they are highly sought models out of the lineup (dfferent specs / equipment levels)

here's a handy hint: notable signs of a genuine GPvR would be:

* no climate control (you get manual dials/knobs instead)
* blue seats (white body) / red seats (black body) / black seats (red body) with FTO logo embedded onto the backrest trimming
* HID lights
* MOMO airbag steering wheel

then there's also an LSD fitted and less weight but not that you can tell by lifting it up! :P

dont foget

facelift front bar with only indicator lights
no sideskirts at all
no electrically retractable side mirrors
front and rear strut braces

its pretty easy to pick one out actually if you know all of the obove including mike's points

Don't forget there were also GPvR Aero series, which has some of the options you guys have mentioned (ie sideskirts, foggies).

Also there was a Version-R series in 1996 with the pre-facelift front bar!

Best to check out the chasis ID.

jerrin wrote:hahaha!! i'm also looking for a manual FTO GPX... :wink: if u've looked at the forum's classified.. i posted a topic up looking for an FTO.. but have yet to find one... :?
You can do a search on "fto manual" in the tradingpost website. It yields quite a few manuals around. www.tradingpost.com.au

I'm looking for a black manual GPX but still saving up for it.

Maybe I missed it but don't GPvR's also have a ralliart muffler? Yet another sign =P
And FTO's already take corner's so well, I wonder how well they can go with strut braces attached!!! :lol:

leakage from the crankshaft seal is very common in GPX, although GR is fine...

oil leakage is not only FTO problem i guess..
my car is leaking tiny bit too..thats what i found out last year when i saw underneath of my car was lifted up for service..
hear say, that means car getting old and seal is worn out and loosen..
as long as u have service regularly..shouln't be huge problem at all..
check engine oil level often..
