Help! What are these wires?
Hi guys,
I found all these harnesses/wires that I have no idea what they do in my car.
Can anyone tell me what they are?
The wires in question are circled in red.
A.
These are under the dash in the center, sort of behind and under the head unit:
B.
This is a wire with a plug right next to the throttle body:
And these are right next to the window wiper motor:
Thanks

Re: Help! What are these wires?
First one looks like where an auto tranny ECU was removed. Dunno about the other two.

Re: Help! What are these wires?
I think that manual is too big to go through for this, especially considering this isn't an FTO.
Bennoz how sure are you about the auto ECU?
As I thought the auto was still a single ECU (ie motor + gearbox ECU)

Re: Help! What are these wires?
Dunno about Lancers, but FTO's have 2 ECUs as Aza says. The engine ECU is up in the drivers footwell, the tranny ECU is there behind the centre console.

Re: Help! What are these wires?
Thats definitely the Auto Trans ECU. They are the only blue plugs in the loom.

Re: Help! What are these wires?
Vipfto, the last pic had 3 plugs though. Are they used for something?
The first one yes I went through the electrical diagram and it is auto ECU. Do all FTO's have those wires or was the wiring loom from an auto in my car?

Re: Help! What are these wires?
If the white wire is going to the stepper then obviously the old harness was damaged and is a bad repair job. That other thing with the red hose connected to it looks like an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator?

Re: Help! What are these wires?
The last wire is the remote wire for the fuel pump so you can pressurise the system after doing any work in the engine bay. Connect it to a live feed and it will run the pump.vipfto wrote:sorry brown is atmo sensor

Re: Help! What are these wires?
The car is a Lancer converted to 6A12 MIVEC, so the loom may have been from an auto (car is manual).
The wire doesn't go to the stepper motor. The stepper motor has a little thing that "holds" the wire. I am sure you've seen this before, it is a weak piece of metal that you bend to hold cables etc.
The red hose is yes an aftermarket FPR I put in with my RPW extractors.
So, basically nothing is "missing" from my car? ie, everything is as it should be?

Re: Help! What are these wires?
Where's the white wire going to then? Looks like it's connected to the stepper harness.spetz wrote:The car is a Lancer converted to 6A12 MIVEC, so the loom may have been from an auto (car is manual).
