Full details on page 1-37 of the manual.

It's good to hear it's running much better, but I'm surprised it's not putting out more power. Very keen to see the graphs.

From memory did you install aftermarket adjustable cam gears?
Yep thought it may have been about that! 20NM is not much in term of tightening sh*t by hand. You will still be able to turn the tighten the bolt more with the above procedure,, so they may have felt lose but in fact not.

No way the 2L is putting out 350nm+. We're talking forced induction territory. N/a's generally won't achieve much over 100nm of torque per litre of displacement. You can simply have a look at the highest strung n/a motors to see this. Check out ferrari's and bmw m series engine or lamborghinis. They are not much over 100nm per 1L of capacity and these engines are engineered to the finest/highest output potential. 350nm+ in an fto would be a tire fryer and you can see this from the turbo'd fto's.

Dyno's don't really read your torque figure like that. Kw they read ok.

And for the vq35 torqueband in the 350z, it is pretty fat (not short). i had the 1st gen vq35de in my old v35 and it had oodles of torque off idle and it went pretty high in the rev range.

20Nm + 120deg +120deg probably works out to around 50 to 100Nm total. They should definitely not feel loose...

i know it doesnt say rpm but around 130km/h is the miivec swap over.

what do we think?

opinions and discussions are welcome

also heres a comparison of before it got tuned and after

massive lean spot at mivec changeover.

id love to hear what you guys think from this.

That lean out is scary, good to have that smoothed over.

Annoying that this isn't in rpm. That's just lazy.
Did they give you a full data printout? ie in table form.
To make any real use of this data you need to convert this to rpm.

Also I'd be adding more fuel at the top end of the curve, 13+ (nearly 14) is getting a bit lean for my liking at full revs. A good afr to target is 12.5.

Exactly what I was thinking, emange should have removed that.... I know I dont have mine any more.

What rpm does the mivec turn over?

The only reason i thought the 350z had a short torque band was because of a drag race i had between one where we finished 0.001 difference apart at the end (the lady driving it got a bad start)... She would pull away until i went above 6 grand ironically and then i would pull back.. and i was pulling back a heck of a lot in 3rd.. .one more meter and i woulda had her at the end :-P ahh well.

he was doing it in 3rd and was hitting rev limiter at 180km/h

so still had another gear to go ;)

he did a run where it did go past 180 though i loved it :P

another thing ive realised is you now really have to hold onto the steering wheel when going around 6000rpm it wants to torque steer everywhere.

Now phase 2 can begin. this phase shall remain secret and take several years to complete :)

and its a secret :)

yeah. RPW did say that i should raise it a few hundred rpm.

maybe thats why the drop in torque is there at the crossover

Yeah but it is still a piggy back, it still utilises the existing ecu, rather than replacing it.

Yeah called Brent but no go. I'll get it sorted, think I know what the problem is. Just need to get some more connectors so I can wire it into a more convenient location for testing.

Wouldn't you notice it if the head chambers had a larger bore than the cylinder and gaskets?

I dont' think i'll ever trust a dyno they're good for before/after only to me. Every time i go to a dyno day (or when i did).. "oh its reading low today" or "its reading a bit high".

I dont think its a waste regardless of outcome he said he's happy with the torque... it sounds like a lot more than it was standard so thats about what you'd expect...

I dont think its a waste even if he has less power than a turbo 6a13 which is expected anyway, plus he's not carrying around kilo's of turbos and intercoolers and piping so his car weighs less and might even have a better power to weight than a 6a13 although the torque from those will cover that or they might who knows.
well i didnt put it together and knowing autocraft im not sure if they wouldve either.

all i know is the combustion chamber was ported cos these heads were meant for the frankenstein engine...

plus my block is worn. the bores were starting to get shiny. bad in some places.

i got 78kw before 116.4 after. torque not sure first dyno gave a weird torque reading.

so whats the thought on chucking the vernier cam gears on?

its a mega bitch though cos the timing belt has to come off?

and the one with the cam angle senor is not 0'ed so hmmm

big question is, is the cost and effort worth the gains?

Sounds a bit low i get between 450-500 on a full tank.

Just an indication of using more fuel + air? Although not being very steady on the throttle takes a bit out of fuel economy too...
