4x4's under 5k

hey im thinking im going to get a big slow 4wd when i get my license back. around a 5 grand budget to spend, not really for serious off roading but more something that looks tough and i can throw a mattress in the back of. im thinking maybe a hilux surf or a 4-runner, opinions?

the Surfs often have a lot more issues than the normies.
I'd go a 4 runner if you want a roof, alternatively a good SR5.

Mum has a 4 runner drove to melbourne in it (from brisbane) and the boot is massive (Matress) took $1000 to get there and back though

Hilux Surfts = Great cars... Problem is, they are all rubbish nowadays.. Thrashed and bashed ..

You also have to look at where you buy it... Lot of people use them for sand duning, and don't wash them off properly .. So all you buy is hidden rust, and a car that aint worth sh*t...

Save your cash, and step up the funds... Just my $0.02

Get a ford ute. You can prob pick up a BA Falcon for 5k.

so probably going to go a diesel 4x4. i really have no idea what im looking at with them, so when i go to look at one any warning signs i should look for / quick tests i can do? cheers
