more Just Cars

got Just Cars insurance for the 96 gpx. (Didn't pay yet). They charged me $1100 for a full comprehensive. (I am 28 male with no claims) for an agreed value of $11,250. But they marked the car's rear spoiler, fog lights, central locking and immobilizer as 'non-standard' accessories :|
Tried reasoning with them that they come with the car, but no go.

Can't go Shanon since I might use the car as my daily ride, and they don't insure vehicles used daily. (Well 3 days bike 2 days car to work :P )

Others who has Just Cars insurance, did they list them as 'non standard accessories' as well?

Shannons insure my 96 GPX and they know I use it as my daily. Got my renewal notice the other day for just under $1100 from memory. Same age and rating 1.

Agreed $15,000. You're prive may vary depending on your location and how risky they deem that location. My insurance went up when I moved down from Rockhampton.

Southport (Gold Coast). I am going to give Shanons a call.

Btw, when insurers ask 'How long has the youngest driver had their license since?', notice it never mentions what kind of license :)

I have NRMA full comp for mine. Rung everyone else and they all wanted to charge me 2500+, Just car like you argued that my car at first didnt exist, then when they found it said most of the stuff on my car was "unisurable" or some crap i just hung up.
NRMA was 1300 for me (on green p's when i got the quote, lost licence once and still 1200 cheaper than anywhere) for an agreed value of 13.5
Didnt look at shannons as i assumed they would be a waste of my time like Just car.
I would give NRMA a call as they probably are still the best bet :D

Ive got Shannons on mine and can use it as a daily drive. You just have to be either an "enthusiast" or belong to a car club and youre both....... This link might help you (standard brochures for FTO)

How old are you Dstocks?

Also the OP mentioned Shannons will not insure for a daily driven car?

I think they would, but you have to call them up and have a chat. Main thing they want to make sure is someone isn't picking up an import etc and driving it everyday without taking care of it. As Dwayne mention, if you can say that you are a motor vehicle 'enthusiast' and that you belong to a car club you should be good.

I will give Shanon and NRMA a call tomorrow and find out. Well in theory I should fit in their criteria even if they don't allow daily driving. I will drive to work twice a week and ride my motorbike the other three days, and I can insure both of them with Shanons :P

I will keep you guys updated here.

Shanons gave me a $6000 value for $500 premium. I am not listed since I am a learner, so the policy is on my wife's name. Once I get my P's they will then decide if they want to cover me or not.

Also according to them agreed value means nothing. Even if I pay the premium for an agreed value of $11,000. At the time of claim payout, they will want receipts etc from us to prove that we have $11,000 worth of expenses on the car. Else they will not payout the whole amount.

According the RACQ, during payout of agreed value, they take the car's market value, kms, and service history at the time of the crash into account. So they will check if you have maintained your car, and not intentionally flogging your car and trying to smash it to get a pay out. I would also assume that if you do not maintain your car it will be taken as one of the reasons your car crashed.

Suncorp was the best though :)
They told me my premium will be $1100. My basic excess will be $1300 (even if my wife is the only driver), and since am a learner, add $200 to that excess. But they cannot tell me what amount I am insured for. They will only decide the amount at the time of a claim. :P

im with Just Car 95 GPX, paying 1050 (full comp) for the yr with the highest excess (2500 at fault) rating 3, car has been valued at 15000?! im waiting for the day for someone to crash into me.

im 23 y.o and i have fog lights, rear spoiler and immobiliser- they havent been considered as a non-standard.

funny about the immobiliser issue for you, coz if you dont have it they wont insure you...

Odd. So I have a 96 Gpx and they give me a value of 11,250 for the same amount of premium. :|
I tried talking to them about the fog lights etc, even told them I have brochures to prove my point. :| They finally agreed to cover it but listed them as 'Non standard accessories we have agreed to cover' :\
