Limp Mode (I searched the first 500 topics in FTO help)

Post by renzkuken1 »

I am seriously stuck with this issue.

Automatic transmission - Chassis manual section 23

With a flashing N lamp there are two possibilities of what it could be.

If it flashes at 1Hz, once a second, then it will be either,

Input speed sensor
Output speed sensor
Solenoid valve
Out of phase at shift points
A/T control relay system

I'm fairly sure that it's Limp mode as its flashing.
I was getting error code 22 which was input crank speed sensor error but i swapped that out with a known good one and my FTO went into LIMP mode.
(Flashing N)
I'm not getting any sparks from the sparks but everything else seems to be working fine.

I'm thinking it's a sensor error but have no f**king idea what to do.

It doesn't even give me an error code anymore as the engine light just flashes at a constant rate not displaying any errors (Which i assume means there is none bar the limp mode it is currently in)

If somebody could give me a detailed description of what i need to do to get spark in my motor again. I would appreciate it a lot!..
I miss having a car. :(

Chris.

I can't find it aha
I know where the input sensor is but where is the output in regards to the input?

May need to do a manual conversion.

I think you are getting a little confused here.

Not getting a spark has nothing to do with limp mode or an input speed sensor (a sensor on the gearbox).

A faulty crank angle sensor will stop you getting a spark. There is no such thing as an input crank speed sensor.

If you are getting a flashing N, i.e. limp mode, deal with that after you get the motor running.
Me? Bitter? f**k no. I think it's hilarious.

Oh ok, and me changing my gearbox to a manual gearbox won't have anything to do with the crank sensor and getting it working?

Does anyone have a spare crangle angle sensor I can have? And what's the labor like? I'm attempting to take this one out as we speak.

Is it flashing while you are driving? If it's 2 flashes a second your transmission is running too hot, and once a second is the error codes in your first post. This is only when you are driving, as two flashes a second in diagnosis mode means there are no codes.

Limp mode is a transmission fail safe where third gear is engaged only.

Can angle sensor is on the engine side. The error code should be displayed on the engine check light, not transmission nutrual light.

I will take ages to remove the crank angle sensor.

I would just make sure the TPS is adjusted properly first and go from there. Seems TPS related what you are experiencing.
