Hey Everyone,

I know there's a few DIY's on this topic already but this one is a bit different.

What you need;

1 x Sharp Blade.
1 x Phillips Head Screwdriver.
1 x Cold Air Intake Piping Duct (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/320814166093 ... 1439.l2649)

1st Step:

Jack the car up at the front. My car already had the passengers side wheel arch liner removed so I would recommend doing so as it makes access easier.

Image

2nd Step:

Remove all your intake pipes. This includes the removal of the factory air pipe that runs from the front of the car to the airbox. I just loosened all the screws and cut away any plastic that was stuck.

Image

3rd Step:

Insert the aluminium end into the hole beneath the airbox. It is a perfect fit and should sit almost flush (-+ 1mm) to the metal. I had to cut some cable ties that were holding the main ECU wires in a bunch. Once that was cut it was movable and allowed smooth fitment.

Image

4th Step:

Insert the pipe to the underside of the inlet for the airbox. The water holder sits in the way slightly but just give it a push around and the pipe will slide up into the inlet. Rememember the loosen the clamp before you try to put it on, also remove the screw bracket as it's not needed.

Image

5th Step:

Locate a place to put the other end of the piping. I used the foglight hole but I had a prefacelift on beofre this and it fits in between the grill and the radiator.

Image

6th Step:

Place and cable tie the end into place. Use the screw bracket as the anchor point for the cable ties. There's a few ways to cable tie it but whatever you feel sits best will work.

7th Step:

Ta-the! Your're all finished. Just reattach your inner guard and reinstall the airbox and pipe.

That's the clearance for the tyre, plenty space.

Yes, i have already tried this.. but if that will be the only way the filter gets air, i guarantee you... *ahem* GUARANTEE... that the engine will be sucking in less air...
I had to add a 2nd pipe underneath my custom airbox, and then the car felt like it had an open pod... Trust me bro ;).

You can experiment with that.. one month with that setup, then after that, try opening the box and feel the difference... Have a good one.

What filter do you have?

I've got an ARC box and this was way above the factory piping IMO. There's a 2cm gap between the blue inlet into the airbox and the airbox filter so the air isn't swirling around the engine bay before it's getting sucked into the engine.

Compared to?

Compared to a stock air box with stock air pipe from the front of the car this would have to nearly double the amount of air available to the filter, especially when moving in a forward direction.

Compared to an open pod, agree.

I'm doing a similar thing on the racecar soon but using a much fatter pipe :D

My setup was:

Uas pipe, unifilter, custom air tight box enclosure, and the same flex piping as stuart...

Then one time i just decided to open the top of the box, purely to hear some induction noise again... Thats when i noticed a better response.. thats what led me to add another pipe...
But, if you were to use a fatter piping, then 1 might be enough..

Thats my experience with that specific setup.

Ive got ARC and im running 2 pipes as well. Have just left the factory one setup as is and built a seperate one from directly underneath the arc box. I have built an insulated box partially around the arc box and it plugs into the bottom of that. I have it dismantled at the moment, so will take a pic or 2 today.

Both my flex pipes were from autobarn...

Here are pictures of mine:

First, a picture of the CAI box with ARC removed:

Same again, different angle:

Going around the corner in front of the radiator:

There are plenty of pics of what it looks like with lid on

wait, so dstocks do you have only 1 pipe running from the bottom and around the radiator into the box?

Nah, ive left the stock pipe in place as well (the one that ends up just in front of the top of the radiator). First pic is the pipe coming out of the bottom of the cai box (custom). Second pic shows the stock pipe going down the other ide of the chassis rail. I have a long angled feed at the front as im running fog lights so cant use the foglight pods.

The trick is to get as much air in there as possible. That way it pushes any warm engine heated air out. This is also why im not running a completely sealed box. Does it make a difference. I had a temp gauge in there a while back and another outside. 25 degree day, 26 degrees inside the box, 70 degrees outside the box. Thats why I insulated it. Power difference is quite significant.

What's the advantages of the arc box, considering a pod fits perfectly in the stock air box??

Cant answer that. But the back of the ARC box (the bit you cant see) is just a filter, so it sucks in warm engine bay air unless you have the CAI setup.

 what a stupid c**t

Let's just block out the radiator completely  Soaring water temps anyone

Wouldn't be so bad if he had it in the left corner only (right corner in the pic) and hidden behind some mesh so it didn't look so f**king *~delightful!~*

nah man you gottta have it exposed as possible so the air cools the pipe because it getz hot from the engin. :P
