@slippercream thats how i actually found out about candy thriugh that video. Was watching it back when i dipped my coil pack cover.

I really want to sand down the letters but i dont wanna just open a can of 2k clear just for that lol. I have a look around the cars see if anything needs a touch up so i can open a new can up

Well.. there's also high-heat vinyl. Personally not sure how well it would hold up in heat (3M is always your best bet... always). But colors for high heat vinyl - especially caliper wrap - are slim pickings.

They are highly reflective though. So, it may draw attention to your car at evening car events ;)
Bling bling, I guess?

If you keep it waxed you will find it should be ok. Even the odd polish will help.
Clear coating polished/sanded metal is pretty useless anyway unless using a DTM clear.
I did a similar job on some rims a while back. Painted inners and polished outer rims. Bloke gives them a wax whenever it gets washed, no issues.

Thanks for the info guys.

My gasket set come in today so i ended up just putting them back on. Think while the intake manifold is off i will throw a set of new plugs in it so its fresh.

Took some pictures, not sure if i like it

You all have such clean engine bays! Jealous. Always. :)
I like it. Pops out where it needs to, yet is still so clean and subtle.

Still wondering if white lettering on both front spark plug and valve covers would look good. Or perhaps silver to match your body. That would give it the proper finish.

Yeah still thinking about doing it, but have been distracted by the S14.

Did abit more work today, got some black grill mesh and fitted to the front bar, it is barely noticeable which i like.

Thanks BJ :)

Each time i tick something off the list looks abit cleaner.

I wanna do mine but ive never been good at lettering. I did my S14 rocker and looks nice from a glance but if u get right over the top looks abit average.

Today was nice and warm so washed all the cars.
FTO came up nice once the sun hits it.
Think once it is back on the road i will do a paint correction and ceramic coat it.

Car has sat for a little while until the spark plugs i ordered came in.

Put a fresh set of plugs in while i was doing the rocker gaskets and put the intake manifold all back on.

Car is slowly coming together.

Will hopefully have it on the road in the new year once it is club reg eligible.

Havent touched the car for abit.

Did some small things this week.

Fitted a new shift (botched it lol)

Tested the EL Panel on my kickplates they all work.
Bought some rubber edging as the OEM one was long gone.

Tried to polish these up but they are scuffed pretty bad.
Will fit them shortly to the car and put the climate control back in.

Just need some new tyres now, add a muffler to the exhaust and get wheel allignment then ready for RWC.

Nice to gradually tick things off!

Was sad when the parts car I bought ages ago had those kickplates, but it ended up being only one lol

My god, I wish I were as diligent as you, @ADZSKI. Truly great work that you've done with your car.
I, by contrast, am a lazy f**k. Hence, I still have my "rustic" -themed FTO :)

Thanks @Slippercream you are to kind.
Ive been wanting to do a lot more but some of the other cars take priority over it. ATM i dont have a daily and been going back between mt xr6 and s14, then unfortunetly i have had to replace my turbo on my xr6 and also have to rip the manifold and turbo out of my s14 to freshen up the gaskets (exhaust leak)

On the bright side have a spare gt3582, that i could slap a cheap chra in and turbo something. Been considering doing to my Pajero hahah but its a daily so silly idea.

Once my pajero is registered this Friday and i have a normal daily, will finish the FTO and slap club reg on it.

Started messing around with the FTO again after it sat for a period of time.

Removed the exhaust to get rid of the sh*tty straight pipe I had put in when I was a p-plater (cringe). I think the previous owner either had a full catback exhaust made or purchased a off the shelf system as it definitely isn't stock, possibly HKS as that was the prior muffler (HKS Super dragger)

Image

Exhaust when removed was looking pretty tired so decided to freshen it up with some black vht high temp paint.

Image
Image
Image

Had the exhaust shop put a muffler in the rear section and weld a new flange on to the cat so it matches the flange on the y-pipe.

Image
Image

Need to give it a lick of paint to match the remainder of the exhaust then fit, though waiting on exhaust gaskets to come in and will get some new hardware so the bolts and nuts are not rusted to sh*t. Quickly tested the fitment of the y-pipe with the cat and main section, fits well.

Image

Assessed the tyres on the FTO stock rims and they were completely rooted. So got a set of new 205/50/16 tyres fitted.

Image

Got rid of the transformers shifter that I put on when I first got the car in like 2011 🤣🤣
Replaced with a likewise shifter

Image
Image
Image
Image

Ordered some white T10 bulbs for climate control screen and some T10 wedge sockets. Once the sockets arrive might have a look if I can fit these into the cluster so it is brighter, previously fitted white LEDS but they are not the brightest.

Nice to clean up stuff even if you don't see it! Exhaust looks like what was on my old white car, was pretty obnoxious.

As in the prior exhaust BJ? I am hoping with the muffler that has been fitted in the rear section should make it some what quiet.

I found some brochures that I had with papers when I first bought the car. Jasma and HKS brochure, 100 percent now it is HKS system prior owner put on.

JASMA

HKS

Still waiting on new exhaust gaskets, but I picked up some new hardware for the exhaust.

Image

BJ you will likely appreciate a recent wheel purchase I made. These are not for the FTO though.

Image
Image
Image

Once these are fitted to the S14, I will have a spare set of rota grids (17×9 +25) that I am thinking of putting on the FTO.

Painted the rear muffler and cat with the remainder of black high temp paint I had, didn't have any high temp clear so will have to live with it. Excuse the sh*tty masking job 🤣🤣

Image

Cleaned the flanges up with my dremmel and fitted the exhaust back to the car. unfortunately the gaskets I bought of ebay are for a odd sized flange, they fit but protrude abit in areas 🤣🤣🤣

Will change them eventually, but will work for now.

Started the car but couldn't really get a chance to hear it run. Think the fuel is well and truly stale, car was mis firing badly
