Hey all!
So since I was in my early teens, I've been a big fan of the Holden V8...
My three previous cars have all been Holdens, starting with a VH SL/E Commodore, moving onto a VK Wagon, and a VL Calais V8, which turned out to be my baby and consumed much of my wallet and time, prior to selling her to find my FTO...
So I miss the V8 power, and I miss my Calais...When I saw THIS come up for $1500, I couldn't resist...
Behold my new project!
1988 VL Calais Series II 5.0L Carby.
- 600 Holley Carburettor
- Edelbrock performer manifold
- Ported & Polished Heads
- Stage 2 Shift Kit
- Stage 2 Cam
- 3" Exhaust System
Just a couple of things that make her a liiittle faster than the 'ol GR...Except for around corners, screw that sh*t :/
Will update when I get some more stuff done!
Meanwhile, reel in disgust as you witness these images...

Re: My New V8...
Haha, I can't talk I had 3 of the f**kers too. Had a VH (SL/E), VL Calais (same as that) and a VK Calais (Digital dashes FTW!)
They were all sh*t cars, but I didn't know any better

Re: My New V8...
Hektic...
Edit: no disrespect on my part, I do like carby V8 and for a long time liked the shape and pip up light covers.
Just a shame in more recent years they've been given such a hoon name thanks to the likes of westies.
Stops the car from taking off.Technikhaus wrote:What's up with those little flaps above the head lights?

They're fully hektik eyelids! It's so you can shut one and make the car wink at all the biddies!Technikhaus wrote:What's up with those little flaps above the head lights?
...Honestly, a very pointless addition by Le Holden...But they DO look pretty cool in comparison to a regular VL front end. Only the Calais has the eyelids for those who aren't Holden educated...
For $1500, she goes like a shower of sh*t!! Might post a vid up to demonstrate next time I'm at the drags...
I reckon it costs like $1 a minute to run this thing though...So that's why the FTO is my daily...FTO is definitely a MUCH better car in all aspects except speed...But with speed limits, what's the point anyway?
My verdict... FTO = Domination.
