So I had went for a dyno run again at the same place to see if the manual conversion had increase the kw. the first run was a poor 86 kw atw. after manual conversion 107.5kw
now i am hoping to get more power(i'll be happy with 150kw range), can anyone comment on the curve and will Haltech interceptor do much? the tuner said the curve is ok and piggyback wont do much.
Mods done are extractors, hiflow cat, cat back, whale penis intake and pod
Engine is fairly old, 260kms.
so a newer engine(a bit of lucky dip), rebuild or 6a13 ???

Re: 2nd dyno after Manual conversion
Either whack a set of extractors on, or at least bin the factory Y pipe under the motor where the factory headers joins. Its restrictive.

I think it might be the the engine being fairly old. thats why was thinking about getting another one. but reading threads make me realised its a lucky dip

Surely that'd be implied with extractors, no?silverGPX wrote:yeah he didnt include the Y pipe....bass_twitch wrote:Akys wrote:Mods done are extractors, hiflow cat, cat back, whale penis intake and pod

I wouldn't blame the age for his blindness, more his "extra" activities.Bennoz wrote:Meh, I've got man flu at the moment

Man flu is also acceptable. *hands concrete pills over*

Re: 2nd dyno after Manual conversion
I got the y pipe done as well.
Ben, how hard is it to get a 6a13tt in the FTO(just want to run stock 6a13). I've read your thread(every single page) since this arvo. haha. its like a book.
Anyway, pete said to hunt for a half cut and he can do the conversion for me. Will an auto vr4 half cut work( ecu, harness etc)
If i do the conversion, I'll prob stick with stock boost, so how much mod is needed?

Re: 2nd dyno after Manual conversion
How does upgrading the fuel pump make what is essentially a stock engine run better?

2nd dyno after Manual conversion
Forget the haltech interceptor. Dont work very well with factory management system.
If you really want a piggy back I would resort to a EMS stinger, but for the price I would really rather go for a standalone computer (plug and play) and have control of fueling and ignition maps and not worry about the limitation of the factory computer.
150kw can be obtained NA in saying that you must have deep pockets. You will need to increase comp and get right cam profile to suit, work on sh*tty quench area of 6a12 (for that matter most mitsu engines), light weight rods (alum) and all other parts that will compliment the set up like custom headers and exhaust.
With NA one must compliment each other, it has a very sensitive nature you go to big or too small then the consequence is loss of lots of power. Thus you see people resorting to forced induction.

Cheers for the info. I am thinking about force induction. Prob 6a13tt. Now I am trying to gather information about it as a found a auto half cut. Need to know how much work is needed if i just want to run a factory 6a13tt4G9XRR wrote:Forget the haltech interceptor. Dont work very well with factory management system.

Re: 2nd dyno after Manual conversion
hey people, how much does rebuilding an engine will cost? I know Dras just did it,$5500 i think.
is putting a 6a13tt in and run stock be heaps more expensive compare to rebuilding my old engine?
Looking at getting a halfcut and just do the transplant. After reading Ben's thread it seems to me tht theres are a lot to do but again, most car can't catch up with his as he had pretty much upgraded everything. I just want stock 6a13tt

That depends what your going to do? Basic rebuild will not cost you that much. Even if you used quality parts.
