Air intake pipes on tips

As per title. Now because of the sensor right after the air box, does this mean upgraded piping is a waste on the tip models? Was considering upgrading tghe piping before and after the air filter box (running a K&N panel) but will it be worth my time? Just wondering what differece it would make on both the low and high end of reving.

Do you mean on Maf attached to intake box?
If so, it has nothing to do with being a tip, it's from being a non mivec GR.

You can still upgrade the piping and add a pod, will give some sort of difference, but that alone without supported mods is overall moot.

Yeah the MAF, no idea why I wrote tip when I knew it was non MIVEC. Massive retard day yesterday. Anyways...

What mods are best to support it? Besides the K&N panel the only other thing it has done is the usual 2.5" cat-back exhaust.

The only thing you have left then is extractors, which is an arguable upgrade.
The main restriction comes in the collector where the 2 banks meet.
Typically the only way to solve this is with a set of extractors, as I don't believe you can just buy a collector to bolt to factory manifold. Could be wrong though.
Otherwise you have the piggy back ecu to mod the tune of the car and open it up, but that's talking larger cash there.

UAS did make a replacement Y pipe years ago, I don't know if they still sell them.

They were f*#king pricey though, around $700 from memory. Could buy a full extractor set for that.
