FTO is my first car too.

Had it for 2 years, one smash.

Lost control on a corner, in the wet, the car hit mivec and the LSD kicked in and went tail end into a square kerb.

$1000 damage to suspension only. and that was with parts from Japan (Thanks Dwayne!) inc. labour.

Just don't show off  you ony learn that lesson once.

Note: Future onwer of my car, if you read this it works perfectly the no chassis damage :P

yeah, i think the 1998 si..(?) looks the best, but never the less, i only want an FTO. Just a manual and L/P plate legal within QLD under 6000... not too hard to find i hope...

Get a manual mivec. You might be searching for a while as the autos are easier to find but it's well worth it in my opinion

the biggest problem is where i live. i have only seen one FTO in my travells in the area ( T'ville to rocky) and the nearest for sale is brissy. but if the car is right, ill take dad and go for a fly, pay up and own an FTO. Happy days

I lived in Rockhampton and bought my FTO without ever seeing it other than in pictures. What I did do was had the dealer drop it off at a mechanic of my choosing for an inspection report, and bought it based upon that.

Be sure to buy a good one since parts are that much harder to source up North.

sounds like a good idea. thanks! so you just said you want it to be inspected at this mechanic, and if the reports were all green you go for it??
