Re: As seen on Ebay

Post by JasonYap »

Hi Guys, yep i'm new. Been playing with cars for quite sometimes now and was hoping to buy an FTO soon!!! ( i Love these small little monster :alien: )

Still Looking for one now. and saw one in e-bay ( the one on the previous post) went to inspect it.

Based on what i had seen and problems
1) Milky front lights ( Both)
2) Crack RHS tail light
3) tappets sound
4) Roof Rust!!!!! ( 3-4 10cents on it and it need a roof repaint?)
5) No rego or RWC

Other then that it was okay, no black or white smoke from exhaust, interior was clean and no tear and worn, 147K ODO.

well i'm not trying to say it's bad but the above problem put me down and i will only buy it at a price that i can manage to fixed it therefore i quote the seller $3200( low baller? :( )

he didn't accept it and $4000 is the lowest he will go.( last listing was bid off for 4K, winner didn't contact him therefore re-listing it)

i told him that i still will bet on ebay and if i win i will pat my winning bid next day. ( He said it's okay since the car is his sister and he don't care)

well i will try to bid as low as possible, you may said i low ball it, but step in my shoes that i had to fix everything and get RWC and rego.

i called up DT panels for a quick quote and it will cause at least $750 depending on the rust.

Milky front head lamp? send it for sanding? or new ones($950 for a pair brand new in box)?

Tail Lamp( $230), Tappets( $300?)

RWC( not sure how fir the car is but i'm laying (1k, including the cert)

Rego + stamp Duty and other tips and bids( $600?)

Insurance( $300 for me, 3rd party fire and theft :P )

well, picture tells a million words but go for inspection tells the truth!

i would like all the FTOs member to give me you opinion on this as i consider you guys are the expert :) .

WTTC Jason.

Milky front head lamp? send it for sanding? or new ones($950 for a pair brand new in box)?
For this check out the DIY area as we have a thread about how to do them.
There is a tappets one as well.
As for parts Dstocks can get you almost anything you need new or 2nd hand.
Just PM him or post up in the wanted area.

IMO $4K for a GR unregistered with lots of work required is too much.

Keep an eye out including on here, you'll find one much better than this, maybe pay more upfront (maybe not) but with less to spend to fix it up.

Edit: Then again, I just had a look at the ebay link, it looks in pretty good nic in the photos, with full body kit.

:( I had passed on the deal for that beautiful Red FTO as the seller was firm at the price 4K and regarding on fixing the roof rust and getting it ready for RWC and rego was like blowing a huge hole at my budget. Hard to do it but yeah, hope it get a good owner.

Note: anyone here that want to bet on that car on e-bay please do not do so as there is an eSniper user that will outbid you! i had take a look at that person bid history and he was biding on 30 over cars at the same time, so yea time waster.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't using spacers illegal (I'm fairly sure it is in QLD)? Rather than using spacers, wouldn't it be better and safer to buy wheels with the correct offset to achieve the same result?

And judging by the dodgy coat of primer on the bottom half of it & all the scrape/stone chips, it's probably had more hits than Elvis

You'll have to flatten your guards and get longer studs. But you already knew that. :)
