FTO GP Version R ’98


This love story started back in 1999.

As a young kid i'd play Gran Turismo 2 and the first car that I saved up to buy in the game was a second hand "FTO GP Version R ’97" in white.

From that moment on I was hooked and had my heart set on one.

In March 2010 I purchased an FTO GP Version R ’98 in white.

It was a 5spd Tip LSD with the usual GPvR parts. It also had a HKS SuperDrager Cat-Back and A HKS Pod Filter.

The Next step was to get rid of the ugly kit.

It was a genuine Veilside, came with the car when it was imported, Veilside stickers on the front bumper & spoiler on the inside and the skirts are stamped on the back.

Thanks guys, the kit was terrible. It's on lowered springs and 2 months into having the car I hit a concrete stopper in a carpark space and cracked the bottom lip. If anyone in Melbourne wants it it's all yours

Next step is to get the manual conversion, extractors and FPR in and then it's interior work.

Time for an update;

I've started to address the suspension. So far I've changed the front shocks, upper and lower rubber spring seats, rear sway bar bushes and the drivers side front sway bar bush (pain in the ass job ). I also changed the passengers side outer CV joint, fixing the clicking issue.

Engine wise I've changed the fried rocker cover gaskets, inlet manifold gasket, front and rear spark plugs, the stepper motor and upgraded to a 255hp Wahlbro fuel pump.

I had bent the inlet manifold gasket when changing the spark plugs which then caused a rough idle. It now idles smoothly.

I bought some of the carbon look covers for the interior.

And this hasn't moved from my room since Ben rebuilt it in 2011

Next up is the rest of the bushes and the extractors.

I try not to think about it. If I could have the car off the road for a couple of weeks it would be in already but seeing as it's the daily it isn't happening anytime soon

Not selling, sorry. I paid Ben $1200 for the full conversion kit rebuilt with new bearings and seals (inc LSD).

Ben's retirement will probably be quite lucrative
